The Skyline
Club was an all ranks club but mostly served up to Sergeant.

It was
a series of restaurants, bars and function rooms plus a TV room, library,
quiet room etc, but it had no accommodation.

Mother's
Day Celebrations, 11th May 1958. Junior Volunteers and Airmen
present their version of the thirties.
In the production were: May Lomax, Jesse Pollard, Jim Hamlin,
June Roberts, Edna Grimshaw, Mary Jack, Marge Regan, Barbara
Peate, Andy Skiba, Al Hays, Arlene Davies, Joyce Deakin, Cynthia
Williams, Jean Banks and Joe Wotisky. |
It was
used as an American Club and had entertainment literally every night
from dances, bingo, steak nights, lobster nights etc.

on Thursday 21st February 1930.
Players are: Col Black, Randy Crews and Larry Wallewyn. |
The building
could accommodate up to 700+ people and was basically open 24 hours
a day as the men worked a shift system.

All entertainment was by locals except for occasional US or international
stars,
Famous performers included:
Bob
Hope (twice), Bing Crosby, James Cagney, Glenn Miller, Vera Lynn,
Joe Loss, Nat King Cole, William Boyd (Hop-along Cassidy), Billy
Graham (Evangelist), Deep River Boys, Irving Berlin, Frances Langford,
Jean Simmons and more.
Famous names include Duke of Edinburgh, Eisenhower, General Patton,
Montgomery, Prince Charles, Charles Lindbergh (first solo flight
across Atlantic)
