Your Story: Muriel's story |

It was not my original job I had to leave that as they did not have maternity leave then and after I had my baby they were not employing as there was a slump in the engineering industry.
The job was not a very clean job and the money was not very good but it was all I could get. My mother looked after my baby for me while I worked.
I used to go out every Friday night to a social club as they were very popular in the 70s they used to have groups on or a singer. They played bingo in the interval and then dancing at the end we really enjoyed it. The photo is of my 21st and was taken in a nightclub in Newcastle called la dolce vita we sometimes went there after the club if we made a good bonus at work. It would be considered a cheap night now but it was a lot then. They probably spend more in a night now than we made in a week then.
