Army Council letter
In 1930 Princess Mary and her husband, the 6th Earl of Harewood, updated the Victorian Range that had served the house for 80 years. Harewood House often served as a hospital during wartime. During World War II Harewood House was used as a resident convalescent hospital. It would have been hot and hard work for those cooking for all the patients and staff.
