Scullery Maid
Sarah Sanders was the scullery maid and at the bottom of the kitchen hierarchy. The job was one of the hardest and most tiresome jobs and included vegetable preperation, washing up and general cleaning of the kitchen. Sarah also scrubbed the kitchen table, she remembered "kneeling on the big table and scrubbing it to keep it white, because it was just bare wood then."
