Aberdeen's Baltic Adventure |
|
In his history of Prussia, Dr F. Schmidt noted, "the peculiar compound of stubbornness and shrewdness which characterises the inhabitants of the small towns of Eastern Prussia has its root in the natural disposition of the Scot."
© SCRAN | The part played in that country's development by native Aberdonians, with their longstanding penchant for city-building and seaport trading - as well as their hard work and comfort at living in relative isolation, still shows today.
Poland and the former Prussian territories are emerging confidently from years of oppression and conflict, with a work ethic and benevolent view on life. Could this perhaps be the most lasting legacy of the army of adventurous Scots who traded and settled in far-off Baltic lands.
