Putting petrol into a car

Fuel Day - Barry blog

Barry says much of the blame for rising fuel prices lies at the Government's door.

Why does Alistair Darling say that he needs to talk to other Finance Ministers about attempting to drop fuel prices, as part of his grand idea to get inflation down?

Surely as most of the cost of a litre of fuel is tax of one form or another, he can go ahead and reduce the cost without approval from others.

I am self employed, and driving one of those most hated 4X4's, but I need it for my property maintenance business, it also doubles as a family car that I can safely carry my five-year-old around in as it has five seats, rather than have him in the front seat of a van!

The current price per litre for diesel of approximately 132p is very soon going to mean that I will have to up my day rate to my clients.

I am resisting putting a price increase in place - however, I know of a number of other trades people who agree with me, and are in the process of putting up their prices.

There is a big worry that we may start pricing ourselves out of work, as there is only so much that the general public can afford to pay to have work done in their homes.

So ultimately it means that Government increase the price of fuel = Joe public pay, not only at the pumps, but also in all the services they receive!!!
