Money too tight to mention?

The cash crunch is starting to bite deep in Gloucestershire - but help is out there if you're feeling the pinch.

Rising food and fuel bills and a tighter loan and mortgage market are causing household budgeting blues for all of us.

John Eden, manager of Gloucester Citizens Advice Bureau, says more people than six months ago are seeking help for spiralling debt problems - in February alone it was asked to help new clients in debt to the total tune of half a million pounds.

"Many people feel ashamed to ask for help when they have money problems. But the worst thing in that situation is to put your head in the sand, because debt doesn't go away when you ignore it," says John Eden.

"It's a reality of modern life that we've become a 'spend now' rather than 'save up' society. Many of us have taken on levels of personal debt that previous generations would have been uncomfortable with. And it's manageable - until a crunch comes."

Food and household bills are rising fast

Sometimes that crunch is an individual crisis triggered by a change in personal circumstances - a lost job, illness, or relationship breakdown, for example.

But today the crunch is on a bigger scale altogether because the crisis is more widespread with all but the most well-off families feeling the effects of rocketing household bills, falling house prices and the rising cost of home loans and other credit.

Gloucestershire debt advice worker Garry Mills has seen clients so desperate they've threatened suicide. He says "They can't hang you, they can't shoot you, and you're unlikely to be sent to prison. If you are struggling financially talk to someone - it's the first step to making things better."听

I am glad to see someone is reaping the benefits of debt and other peoples suffering, I think Hard nut needs several hard blows to the head for calling himself hard nut, wake up your not a hard nut your probably a big geeky whimp who lives with his mummy still, lol. I hope he has a drastic life changing experience then maybe he might show some remorse to those who have been on the receiving up off bad times

Well its killing us. We live day by day. Two children who we can't take places so we make our own fun. The park is up the road! Or we stay in. I'd rather take a trip to the zoo but thats a joke! I want a job full time but its not worth the hassle as nursery will cost more than i earn. They're loads a millionaires out there about time people helped out and got every1 outta recession

I think we need to stop blaming the Govt. This is a global recession brought on by the Arabs and Russians who are hiking fuel prices to feather their own nests.

Well said Cun. Please come and spend it in my shop. Thanks.

Panic merchants. Get your cash out and we'll spend our way out of recession!

Some of the other posters have a constructive amount of firmness in their views but are still confuddled in their thinking due to woolly liberalism. People without private pensions should be allowed free access to fags, booze, hydrogenised fats to prevent them being a national burden late in their life. The ageing population is a serious issue, some families cant afford their own grandparents let alone anyone else's.

The cost of fuel increases all the time. At the same time the cost of crack cocaine is going down. No wonder we are seeing more junkies and fewer boy racers on the street. When will this Government get their act together?

I am delighted with the credit crunch. As a bailiff I stand to make a kiling. Bring it on!!

I would have to agree with Gary. It's always the lower classes that waste money on destroying their own health as well as their families with their penchant for junk food and fags. It's a costly way to die young. When they pack all that up I may lend them a sympathetic ear. To me they are just a burden on the health service which is why my family are all private. However, I still have to pay for hospitals with my income tax funding care for the uneducated masses.

No doubt it's been effecting a goodly portion of our world. Presently, the only other alternative(s) is Solar Power,Gasohol, Methanol and, of course, non-drinking Alcohol. Some of these fuels can be processed on a Still but with ventilation. In any event, these fuels that are processed- as with Alcohol are clean-burning. As for Solar Power: well, I suppose the roof of any house can be built-on with Solar Panels. These Panels are expensive but, they are predictable- as there is always daily light. The Owner of a House may wish to contact their Utility Company and perhaps any unused electrical power can be re-directed back to the Utility Company. Of course this can be applied as credit for the 成人快手 Owner. Lastly, looking down the pipe: Petroleum used for Gas and Diesel is on its way out. Best of luck..

The real problem is that we have all had it too easy. Why don't people stop moaning and just get on with it. Cycling is a good money saver. Most working class people I see are obese so a financially controlled diet and no alcohol or cigarettes will save cash and improve health. When will these people learn?
