Watering
Plants lose water through their leaves all the time. It is essential to ensure there is enough to replenish the roots, otherwise they will die. In warm weather water is lost from the soil by evaporation, so watering will need to be done more often.

This makes watering one of the most important maintenance tasks, and one that must be done on a regular basis, especially in summer when it is hot and plants lose water more quickly.

Take special care of newly sown or planted plants and those in containers - they run out of water more quickly than established plants in beds, that have bigger root systems and more soil from which to ‘collect’ water.
