Great British Menu: The Finals - Dessert
Series 18, Episode 28

Great British Menu
Series 17: 28. The Finals - DessertIt’s national finals week, where the winners from the regional heats compete to earn a place on the menu of a spectacular banquet celebrating 100 years of brilliant British broadcasting. Each episode will see the eight rivals compete over a different course, from starter through to dessert, where they will be marked out of ten by an expert judging panel, which features a different well-known guest judge each episode.
The guest judge for the dessert course is journalist and News at 10 presenter Huw Edwards. He joins Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge, restaurateur Nisha Katona and food podcast host and comedian Ed Gamble on the judging panel to select the menu’s grand finale. This is the last chance the chefs have of cooking a course at the banquet, so tensions are running high as the rivals battle it out for the final time. Each chef produces a dessert that celebrates a broadcast with links to their nation or region - and with desserts infamously tricky to pull off in the heat of the Great British Menu kitchen, they have their work cut out.
Once a winner has been decided, one chef will be surprised by being asked to cook the banquet’s mini dishes – the canape and pre-dessert. Will this be additional work for an existing winner, or a chance of cooking at the banquet for a chef who hasn’t won a course?
