The addition of Oxford quintet Foals to the already stellar Reading and Leeds line up is bound to set excited tongues wagging.
Known for creating intelligent post-punk plus adopting pop sensibilities and hints of prog to get their point across, recent single Inhaler was described by Pitchfork as a combination of Rage Against The Machine and The Cure, with ‘a vast, swaggering, swampy riff powerful enough to shatter concrete foundations’. Getting its first play on Zane Lowe, Inhaler has set a high standard for long expected third album Holy Fire which comes hot on the heels of celebrated releases Antidote and Total Life Forever.
The 2013 festival will be their third Reading and Leeds appearance. If it’s anything like their set in 2010 expect to see stage acrobatics and frenetic crowd involvement, all of whom agree the Foals hype is entirely justified.
