Respected pianist Steven Osborne performs Beethoven鈥檚 majestic 鈥楨mperor鈥� piano concerto in a concert featuring the UK premiere of Christopher Rouse鈥檚 Prospero鈥檚 Rooms, inspired by Edgar Allan Poe鈥檚 short story The Masque of the Red Death and Leonid Andreyev鈥檚 play The Black Maskers. The spark of inspiration for Lutoslawski鈥檚 richly imagined Concerto for Orchestra was the folk music of the Kurpie region in Poland. Expect a feast of dazzling virtuosity from the orchestra鈥檚 players under the baton of Micha艂 Nesterowicz.

As a prelude to tonight鈥檚 Live in Concert from the 成人快手 SO, the 成人快手 Singers and Paul Brough perform works by Polish composers including Henryk Gorecki鈥檚 Lobgesang and Totus Tuus, and settings of the Agnus Dei and Stabat Mater by Krzysztof Penderecki.
