Sir Andrew Davis conducts Elgar鈥檚 evergreen 鈥楨nigma鈥� Variations before the 成人快手 Symphony Orchestra is joined by the 成人快手 Symphony Chorus and superb soloists for Bliss鈥檚 powerful cantata, The Beatitudes.

Sir Arthur Bliss wrote The Beatitudes for the opening of the new Coventry Cathedral in 1961, but at the last minute the premiere was relegated to Coventry Theatre. A powerful work, its dramatic arc reminds us of Bliss鈥檚 gifts as a film composer. Conducted by Sir Andrew Davis, it鈥檚 unlikely to be in better hands 鈥� as indeed are Elgar鈥檚 鈥楨nigma鈥� Variations, his glorious, affectionate and often jocular musical portraits of friends and family.
