Bearcubs is the stage (and studio) name of 23-year-old Jack Ritchie, whose journey from studio to Glastonbury stage is a story of perseverance as much as it is one of inspiration. He first signed up to ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Introducing in 2013, uploading his remixes and songs in the hope of gaining a wider audience. In 2014, ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Introducing with Jen and Ally broadcast his song Take Control (or Take Ctrl, as it was first called), and shortly afterwards his remixes and productions - particularly the single Touch - began to appear on Annie Mac and Huw Stephens’s shows on Radio 1, and Monki’s show on 1Xtra.
But it was this year’s Paper Walls that really sealed his reputation as a songwriter/producer. A woozy journey through bendy electronica and 3am soul, it’s a perfect soundtrack to the last bus ride home, when things are a bit too vivid in the middle and wobbly around the edges. "
