Make the coolest homemade card for birthdays and events!

Instead of a plain card, why not try our ±è±ô²¹²Ô±ðÌýcard? This homemade card is like no other... You can actually use it to launch a paper plane.

We were joined on Blue Peter by amazing paper plane expert, Dr Yicheng Sun, who showed us how to make the perfect design to work with our card launcher!

Follow these simple steps to make our brilliant greetings card

  • Place your sheet of A4 card lengthways in front of you.

  • Use your ruler to measure 10cm from the bottom of the card, then cut it across to make a square shape. This will keep your launcher card nice and strong.

  • Fold your square of card in half to make a crease.

  • Flip your card over and fold each side of the card in half again, towards the centre crease. This will give you your launcher shape.

  • At this point, you can write your message on the two inside panels and draw some lovely decorations on the outside panels.

  • It's time to make a sling with the elastic band. You can either staple or tape it to the front of the card along the middle crease. We’ve added a little pouch to ours using some of the excess card from earlier – this will protect your plane and ensure lots of launches.

  • Fold the launcher card together and pull your elastic sling until you can hook it on at the back.

  • Load in your plane, it's almost time for takeoff.

  • Pull the sides of your card gently upwards and watch your paper plane take off to new heights!

How will you decorate yours?

Maybe you'll decorate your card launcher in the colours of the rainbow, or a racing car like our examples at the top of the page?
