You can find out more about its history and architecture by going on our tour. The church was opened in 1929, initially as a chapel of ease. It was not consecrated until 1954, when the church was finally finished and paid for.Ìý The design, by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, was for a church of the Roman basilica type, closely resembling the Church of St Maria in Cosmedin in Rome.
