Doctor Who has been crowned Britain's most popular drama, with David Tennant also receiving a gong for Outstanding Drama Performance, at the 2010 National Television Awards.

Accepting the award for Most Popular Drama on behalf of the Doctor Who cast and crew, Bernard Cribbins said:

"This is absolutely wonderful and I know how pleased [David Tennant] must be because he's been at it for four years, and I think everybody involved with Doctor Who will be just as pleased. The whole team down there are certainly the best I've ever worked with. Thank you, ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ. Cymru am byth!"

The ceremony took place last night at the O2 arena in London. Gavin & Stacey was also named Best Comedy Programme, although Ruth Jones was absent. The award was picked up by her co-writer James Corden, who was accompanied by fellow cast members Larry Lamb, Alison Steadman and Melanie Walters.
