It's My Shout awards in Porthcawl
The awards recognise the budding talent that's nurtured through It's My Shout in all aspects of film and TV work - acting, writing, technical and production. The scheme was set up six years ago and is now supported by a wide range of organisations in the industry, including ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Wales.
Roger is the man who inspired Rob Brydon, Jason Hughes and a host of others to make careers as performers. The list of his ex pupils at Porthcawl Comprehensive school is truly impressive and, if you add to that, the names of youngsters he worked with through Mid Glamorgan (and subsequently Bridgend) Youth theatre it reads like a Who's Who of Welsh actors.
Through the It's My Shout scheme a new generation of young performers is gaining experience and hoping to follow in the footsteps of Michael Sheen, Owen Teale, Jan Francis and Ruth Jones.
The initiative is now making a mark throughout Wales and Roger's keen for more and more people to benefit from the opportunities it offers. Judging from the atmosphere at the awards in Porthcawl, there may be hard work involved but there's an equal amount of fun.
