Beaterator. A recording studio in your hand!
We reviewed Beaterator today, the music making software from Rockstar and Timbaland. Now first up I gotta say this is not a game it's a music making application and very impressive it is to!.
There is so much to this software I don't know where to start. Usually you would have to pay hundreds of pounds to get this kind of quality.
Made in three basic sections, one for those who have just started, one for intermediates and the full on professional section for studio geeks like me.
So even if you have no musical talent at all you're given a headstart by Timbaland cos he's contributed thousands of sounds, loops, hits and FX.
In live play load up two loops and we are off!!! I can see a lot of MCs, DJs and bedroom producers turning out some very high quality music with this thing and with very little effort... .If you do get stuck or want to progress a bit further Timbaland has thoughtfully provided a video instruction manual as part of the application and you might need it if you venture further in to the song crafter section cos it does start to get more complicated.
If there is a drawback then it's the fact that you can't really finish an entire record on it and playing full chord arrangements is a long ting but you can get pretty darn close to a finished production.
New PSP's have a microphone so you can record vocal into it!! That's right vocal's so that man doing a Dizzee Rascal impersonation on the train is really in the middle of a studio session and you might be disturbing his vibe if you stare for too long!
Real professionals will be pleased to hear you can import and export all the sounds or an entire track as a wav file and you can save a midi file to load up in your grown up software! A review can't really do this software justice cos when you actually get hold of it that's when you realise you have nearly an entire recording studio in your hand!
The price of Beaterator is a real winning factor. No professional studio software has ever come close to this price point. They usually cost about 10 times the £24.99 this costs and some of them aren't even as good as Beaterator.
All in all I would have to say this is fantastic, one of the best bits of kit I have ever reviewed. Sick sick sick!!!!!
Check out my demo song I played during the show!!!
