Nowhere Boy

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to attend a special charity premiere of 'Nowhere Boy'. All I knew was that it was about John Lennon's teenage years and it was artist Sam Taylor Wood's directorial debut . I deliberately didn't do any research on the film as I just wanted to experience it without any outside influence.

Everyone knows at least one Beatles song and I grew up with them as a kind of soundtrack, due to my Dad being such a huge fan. It's a very emotional film, you're laughing one minute then sobbing the next. Not many films can throw you around like that. There are also some incredible performances - Aaron Johnson (who is going to be in the new superhero film Kick Ass next year) is perfect as the young John. The film looks gorgeous and it surprised me - I didn't realise how much of a hard time Lennon had as a kid. If you see one movie over the next few months, please go and see 'Nowhere Boy'. For now, why not check out the trailer below.
