Tonight's PM
may or may not come from Cannes. Last minute negotiations taking place. Come what may, Carolyn will be your host, either in Studio S1 or on the beach. In any case, it's a beautiful view.
I will be in Whitby, the Cannes of North Yorkshire, for Any Questions, and will try to post from the train during the afternoon. By the way we think we've decided what to do with the fiver I won on Eurovision. We're going to put all the money on a horse. Don't tell anyone - we're pretty sure the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Charter forbids it.
Eddie,
Be careful talking to strangers on the train.
Aye,

Eddie..that dear Ms Quinn holding the for again whilst you go off on a jolly....tut tut.
re horse, go and see Gordon Ramsey, he will let you know the best cuts, could we have some for a Beach Bar-B-Que?
Eddie:
Fiver on a horse? Wouldn't it have more chance of winning if you put a jockey on it?
Eddie - I bet on a great horse yesterday! It took seven other horses to beat him.
Well, I guess that's what you call a "Cannes do" attitude...
(I'm sorry. I'll get me coat...)
Hi Eddie,

Eddie,
Have you set off yet?
Now to remind Froggers of Eddie's last attempt at a train blog pic.

I hope he can achieve the same measure of surreality today. (Is that a word)?
A little something for us to sing on the train journey -- Beecham will understand - it's 3MB so give it time.

At Long Stanton I'll stand well clear of the doors no more.
No whitewashed pebbles, no Up and no Down
From Formby Four Crosses to Dunstable Town.
I won't be going again
On the Slow Train.
On the Main Line and the Goods Siding
The grass grows high
At Dog Dyke, Tumby Woodside
And Trouble House Halt.
The Sleepers sleep at Audlem and Ambergate.
No passenger waits on Chittening platform or Cheslyn Hay.
No one departs, no one arrives
From Selby to Goole, from St Erth to St Ives.
They've all passed out of our lives
On the Slow Train, on the Slow Train.

Pye Hill and Somercotes ... on the Slow Train,
Windmill End.
Jonnie - that was lovely! Almost rocked me to sleep.
Dear Eddie,
Could you please email me when all this blog nonsense has finished. I used to like PM as a way of hearing about the day's events, but I've heard just too much about the blog, and I'll offer you 10:1 that I'm not the only one.
The odd mention of the blog, every now and then, might be appropriate, but it has really, genuinely and seriously gone too far. So let me know when PM is back to normal and I'll turn the radio back on.
Thanks
Joe
Joe Theotaxis: Is the Blog being broadcast on the radio? Gosh! My radio must need retuning.
Glad, though, that you managed to find your way here to complain about us. We clearly need to turn the sound down ;o)
Joe Theotaxis : I'm not sure whether I should read your comment as tongue in cheek or not.
However, there are clearly different views as regards to the blog.
I personally think that blog has a symbiotic relationship with the PM programme. The programme generates discussion for the blog - and comments on the blog can feed the programme.
Eddie made an interesting comment on the Matthew Parris thread - I've put the link on for you as the thread attracted around 300 comments in a very short period, as Carolyn pointed out on Friday.

As Big Sister said - you *have* found your way here, so clearly have the technology and good use of HTML.
Alas Radio can only use vocal signposts as means of directing the listeners to places of discussion and debate, such as here.
Network radio (as we know it) is evolving and giving way to new technologies such as the Internet and mobile interactive communication devices. The speed of the transition due to consumer demand, electronic breakthroughs, broadband etc, has been much greater over the last ten years than previous decades
I embrace the technology - perhaps it's the aquarian in me - but I sincerely hope a few mentions of this blog on the radio won't put you off from listening to the best drivetime news programme available.
Anyhoo - our two comments will probably be lost in space so I suggest next time to leave your complaint on the Glassbox - where the Editors will take note.
Joe -
The Parris thread is taking years to load up due to the number of comments - so in case the link didn't take you to Eddie Mairs comment here it is :-
At 12:08 PM on 17 May 2007, Eddie Mair wrote:
Dan (248) yours is one of a number of comments suggesting that PM should report things on the blog. As far as we are concerned, this public forum is part of PM.
Sometimes, parts of it will get on the radio, other times not. We don't see the Blog as a second class outlet, and I'm constantly (about five times last night I think) referring our three and a half million listeners to it.

Joe:-
The Editors and maybe Eddie will hopefully read this and *may* reduce the blog references if they see fit.
