Will & Testament bloggers dinner

Post categories:

William Crawley | 12:33 UK time, Friday, 11 April 2008

Peter Klaver has been in touch with details of a dinner to which all Will & Testament bloggers are invited.

A small group of the regulars on this blog had dinner together some time ago. We were thinking of doing so again and expanding the group this time. So this is an open invitation to the posters here (and Will too of course), both believers of any flavour and non-believers, to have dinner with a group later this month. For the date we had Friday the 25th or Saturday the 26th in mind. Mourne Seafood in Belfast is the current favourite venue, but, in case the number of attendants grows beyond the number of seats available, please suggest your favourite alternative venue. Apart from noting your attendance (please state availability for both 25th and 26th, so that we can decide on which one) on the blog here, sign-ups please also email t.p.c.klaver@qub.ac.uk. Hope to see you the 25th or 26th. -- Peter Klaver

Please get in touch with Peter directly if you would like to book, or leave your comments and suggestions here.

Good stuff, Peter. I'll be doing my level best to attend. That's "Mourne Seafood" of course - it's not as if we'll be having a grief session for the fish (well, I hope not!)

Why not mourn? They were living creatures which we have killed for our needs (arrogant humanity, again, assuming other life exists just for us).

Count me in, Peter. If we get thirteen, will it be the Last Supper of the 'Will and Testament'? And will the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ foot the bill?

Nice you'll be joining. I like the analogy. Maybe I can extend it a bit.

So the W&T dinner is the last supper. Then I presume one of us will betray pb for 30 pieces of silver (seems a bit steep, I'd do it for less than a fiver). Pb will be brought before a number of professors in physics, astronomy, paleontology, archeology and plate tectonics. They will question and condemn him for the outrageous statements he has repeatedly made. Pb will be handed over to the officer of the local PSNI station. The PSNI officer will try to avoid taking the decision of what to do with him by sending pb on to Hugh Orde. Orde will wash his hands of the matter and send pb back to the local PSNI officer. One of pbs creationist fellow trouble stirrers on the blog, PTL, will deny being pbs disciple when the crowd singles him out. The PSNI officer will give the crowd the choice: release pb or release Michael Stone. They choose to release Stone. Shortly after that, pb is forced to drag a cross to the top of Cave Hill and is crucified. And during his final hours on the cross, he sings a song with the men on the crosses next to him:

'Always look on the bright side of life...... *whisteling*'

Indeed, but if he takes as many millenia to come again as jesus, then we don't need to worry just yet.

Joining us for the dinner, Peter? :)

greets,
Peter

Hi Peter,

Did you really mean that ALL shades of 'believer' were invited? Seems the intention might be to have some of US for lunch!!

(In any event, I'm out of the country on 25th/26th, so sadly unavailable to pass on any priceless pearls of evangelical wisdom! Perhaps another time!)

Yes, I did say ALL shades of believers. And with the exception of those believers who would show up wearing explosives in their belts, I meant it. I think it would be far more interesting an evening if we had people of different views. Surely we should all be able to sit down together and enjoy the evening, regardless of widely different ways of looking at the world.

Now, Philip, there's a thought. Since you believe that life is only a preparation for the main course, we could have you as starters. Anyone for Monkfish Morsels or Cod Cocktails?

Hi Pete

You really dont seem to be able to get me out of your mind do you?

It would seem like I must be getting through to you a bit more than you would like to admit! ;-)

In any event, I won't be attending because much as I would like to, I make it a point of principle not to socialise with people who consistently make personal attacks on me.

Otherwise I would loved to have gone.

Pity.

Och Come on PB!

We would love to see you there-really!

First off PB we do not know you-so it is difficult to make a "personal attack".

But PB we forgive for posting constant falsehoods. We forgive you for making dogmatic statements about science then running away prevaricating and not answering some *very* simple questions that we humbly asked to back up your views. We forgive you for saying you were genuinely interested in finding out more about science but in fact you were not and instead wasted a lot of peoples time and effort over the past year and a half-myself included. We forgive you for being a hypocrite in constantly referring to the "truth" of the Bible but conveniently forgetting the stuff about not telling lies, bearing false witness, being a sanctimonious hypocrite.

All you had to do was say something like "opps guys, made a mistake about that one!" that would have been fine, matter closed but instead you astounded us all with your breath-taking arrogance in not admitting you got things wrong.

Let bygones be bygones, speaking personally I am prepared to turn the other cheek to all the insulting posts you put up and move on.

The Mourne Seafood restaurant is lovely btw!

My sweet pb,

It's not just my mind, there's other parts of me I seem unable to get you out of for any length of time. Some men (a number of rugby players among them) tell me they have the same problem.

Peter
