Most of the comments recommending 鈥楴O鈥� to AV are based either on
(i) Government propaganda eg 鈥� we are told that"(barrie)鈥�.or what Churchill said eons ago;
Yet we all agree that our masters are devious and manipulative;

(ii) attempts at 鈥榳hat if AV been used last May elections鈥�;
Impossible, as it involves absolute guessing about what voters鈥� second and subsequent choice of candidates might have been; or

(iii) Probable effect on the Liberal vote; generally assuming that we all chose Liberals as our second choice; why?

If and when we really have a Big Society, we will have local forums of citizens examining and evaluating all these assumptions.

Moreover, if we were half as organised as those plotting against us our local (Big Society) forums would issue guidelines, such as 鈥榩ut a certain 鈥榣oser鈥� as your first choice and your real choice (e.g UKIP) as second choice, with other minor candidates as subsequent choices. Dont list the Big 3 at all.

The AV system is a poor compromise for PR but it is all we have at this first referendum opportunity so why waste it by voting for the status quo, or by putting any of the Big 3 anywhere on our ballot papers?

At the very least, we should ensure that there is a big surge in votes for minor and independant candidates.

That would send a clear message that WE are not all Happy Easter Bunnies.

I have never given blood, but I have registered my DNA sample for stem cells donation, from which gay men are banned too. You can argue in the case of blood donation there is always a time lag between exposure to any virus and testing positive. If one person can鈥檛 donate, there is always someone else. However in the case of cancer patients, there is only a one in 10,000 chance of finding a match in a non-family member.
