I do not care where the border is, I am more concerned about the postal votes and polling stations locking people out last general election. Those throwing toys around do not care about democracy, all they care about is brainwashing 500,000 people and failing with theatrical style, interesting they now use the phrases 'cross party support', in truth they tried to hijack it and failed, all you have to do is listen to what the MPs said on the 'protest in the park' (Saltash). We all recall the claims of thousands of nationalists marching on the bridge, 50 tops.

The "Brainwashing" jibe can be used by both sides, and is now getting rather cliched don't you think?
The phrase "Cross Party Support" was used at the very beginning of the campaign, and is as true then as it is now.
No-one "tried to hijack" the campaign, just join it.
As for "throwing toys around", is that not what persistent denial of the campaign, and attempt to discredit by association to Nationalists, really is?
All election systems are open to abuse and mismanagement, Postal votes will be fixed by the unscrupulous if they feel they can get away with it, as will the old system of actually turning up. There is the question of multiple voting, and "tactical" voting surrounding "second homes". These means of voting, and more, need looking at again. In fact the whole system could do with a major overhaul. In my opinion, compulsory voting for all would be the way to go, with a more accurate method of ensuring that the person voting was the person supposed to be voting.
To get back to the topic of the OP, what our MP's need to understand, is that of all the systems of PR that could be chosen, the "Alternative vote" system is the one most likely to favour the existing "Big three" parties, and more likely to prevent the smaller parties from having any chance of election. Thus maintaining the current status quo.
Quite frankly, they all need to grow a pair and vote this ill conceived bill on the trash heap where it belongs. Then they need to work to get a discussion, and then a referendum on the sort of PR that would actually be "proportional" to the general public's true views, both on a local level, and that of the UK as a whole.

It would be very much in the nats interest to make it compulsory voting, apart from taking away peoples democratic right not to vote, those who have been made to do so against their free will, would be more inclined to vote for MK out of spite or spoil their ballot papers.

YC, the chip you have on your shoulder regarding "nats" must be a real burden to you.
You say that it is a "democratic right" not to vote, but I believe that it is a democratic duty to vote. A spoiled ballot paper, or the inclusion of a "non of the above" option, is as valid a vote as one for any standing candidate. What extra "benefit" MK would have from such a system, would be balanced by the extra "benefit" other parties/candidates would also receive. If you believe that "spite" comes into anyone's thought process when deciding on whom to vote for, then it says more about you than think.

Any chance we can find out why so many comments were censored yesterday and the games being played please. For example my comment 5 was hidden yesterday, why it reflects the antics of this minute group of people treading all over our (and I mean our) history and abusing it and making all Cornish people look foolish. It was on topic and reflective of the mass opinion of these people.

I thought we lived in a democracy, and here he is talking about "controlling" people who say things he disagrees with.
Your opinion of what MK stand for is an opinion based on your own personal prejudices, and not one based in fact.
I am also intrigued as to how an Internet forum, open to all, has a "view"?

But what any of your post has got to do with compulsory voting, or anything else raised by the OP is beyond anyone of normal intelligence to fathom. What are your views on compulsory voting for all, do you agree that the whole electoral system is in dire need of updating, to make government more representative of the opinions of the general public?
Are you able to post a reasonable comment, one that does not revert to the usual "nat bashing" that seems to be all that some here are capable of?

I am not even sure the MK experiment of standing in general elections is working, or what it is they hope to realistic achieve, one thing is absolutely certain the Cornish people avoid them like the plague
