We're on a bad run right now, with three defeats on the bounce; and a home game against Montrose might have seemed the perfect opportunity to get back on track.

The fact that they would have had four or five players missing would have had some suggesting it was a home banker.

In all honesty though, our confidence is pretty low right now and at home might just be the best fixture to lift the players' spirit and performance levels.

Don't mistake me for thinking we're more confident of getting a result against Livingston than Montrose, but I'm sure even Harry Cairney and Derek Townsley would tell you we have saved our best performances for the teams at the top end of the table!

I think I'm correct in saying that Livingston can win the league at Galabank on Saturday, so we'll be hoping to stop that from happening.

That being said, I'm sure they will be bringing a few supporters so it should be a good occasion and hopefully one that will lift the players and bring the best out of us.

Dumbarton clinched the title at our place last season and, although we had nothing but pride to play for, it wasn't nice watching the opposition celebrating.

The play-offs are looking like a massive long shot for us but we still have ambitions to finish higher than last year, so we'll be giving everything to stall the inevitable Livingston party.

I don't often get a Wednesday night off so it was a bit of a treat to have a relaxing night at home watching Arsenal against Barcelona in the Champions League.

I usually get a little bored if I'm watching matches on the television myself, but there was no way I was missing any of the this highly anticipated match.

It had been hyped up so much that usually that means a disappointment lies ahead but there wasn't a chance of that at the Emirates.

I honestly can't believe that Arsenal got away with the draw as in that first hour Barcelona were simply incredible.

I thought they were absolutely magnificent to watch and it was unbelievable to see how ordinary they made the home team.

Make no mistake and it's great to see players in every position so comfortable and keen to get on the ball and pass and move - even Victor Valdes was pinging passes out wide from inside his box!

What surprised me, and possibly Arsenal as well, was how hard the Barcelona players worked to win the ball back on the very few occasions they did give it away.

They played and pressed the game so high up the pitch that Arsenal just couldn't keep the ball for any length of time.

Barcelona are all about neat and tidy short passing and playing through teams but you could see from their two goals that they can mix it up with two balls over the top to and he produced two great finishes.

Arsenal managed to salvage a draw from a game that, had it been a boxing match, could have been stopped inside 10 minutes.

With Barca's first choice central defensive pairing both missing for the second leg in the Nou Camp, it could make for a very interesting second leg on Tuesday night.

What a shame we are away to Elgin that night...
