I was training away - knowing that - but I was determined to get through the session and get back into the squad for the game last Saturday.

As it turned out, I didn't last two minutes when we went into mini games, and I've probably set myself back another week or so.

It might be selfish of me but I was delighted to hear that , but still disappointed that I couldn't play in the reserve game instead.

There's another reserve game on Wednesday night so I'll give the injury another try then and see how it goes.

I'll be casting an envious eye up to Station Park, Forfar, before I go out for our reserve game against .

and, while there is no disrespect intended, I know which game I'd rather be involved in.

This is what the Scottish Cup is all about and Forfar fully deserve their shot at the big boys and the financial gain that will come for their club.

It goes without saying that I wish them well, and I'm sure they will give a good account of themselves, and of football in our division.

Over to business at Galabank then, and unfortunately there have been another two players released by the club.

I got a text from Simon Ruddick last night to say that both he and Stuart Hill had negotiated their release from the club.

Both these players had recently been placed on the transfer list and it was really only a matter of time before they moved on.

Simon and Stuart are both good defenders and I'm sure they won't have too much trouble finding new clubs.

It goes without saying that I wish them all the best and I'm sure I speak for the rest of my team-mates.

No doubt I'll bump into big Stuart in his bar in Carlisle, and I'm off to Magaluf at the end of May with Simon, so I'll definitely catch up with them before too long.

I'm going to finish up this week by saying how sad I was to hear of the sudden passing of last week.

I knew Garry when I was a young boy at Rangers. He would travel up and down the country following the reserves and youth teams as well as hardly ever missing a first-team game.

I last spoke to Garry when he was down at Galabank for our pre-season friendly against Rangers under-19s.

It amazed me that he remembered me from my time at Ibrox and it just goes to show what an unbelievable supporter he was of his football club.

My sincere condolences go out to his family and friends.
