Stargazing Live !

Chris Evans | 09:56 UK time, Tuesday, 17 January 2012

A good reason to get cold. And lots of us have been as a result. And we can again tonight - ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ2 from 8.00pm. That was us but even later last night. We were well and truly Sherlocked before that. My goodness, what a series finale that was. I can only presume that the episode in question was not available to The Golden Globe givers. It has to have been the best thing on telly in the last year. Moriarty and Holmes' roof-top two-hander - just genius. I shall say no more just in case you haven't seen it yet. I n fact stop reading this NOW and go to the i Player to watch it immediately.

Peace and Love

    Morning Chris

    Early Bird is cockneybird today.

Sherlock was just amazing and my 20 year old has now decided to aspire to be. Although there is a downside to this action you need to be slightly observant and boy wonder spends most of his time with his head in the gaming/music clouds and only comes out ocassionally for food.

Cold is an understatement I cant seem to get warm I have the heating up full and sitting him my company fleece. I think winter has finally arrived and there is a rumour that there maybe snow flurries this weekend. brrrrrrrr!!!

Keeping in constant text contact with bestie at the mo just so she knows I am here for her and hubby and I having dinner just the two of us tonight as the boy is working late, half tempted to open something cold and alcoholic but have a stack of ironing which is getting bigger by the day to really plough through.

    Happy winters tuesday everyone

    Good morning everyone,

Yes, CLP, you are absolutely right about Sherlock, it was brilliant. We went to the cinema at the weekend to see the Robert Downie Jnr one, which was entertaining but (IMO) not a patch on the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ one.

Deevs - My voice of choice would have to be the lovely Prof Cox.

    Have a good day everyone.

    X

    Gail.

    Morning (again!)

Prof Cox Gail? Really? I find his voice has a slightly sedative effect on me. I can appreciate what he does, how clever he is, even a bit good looking but I'm sorry (and this will upset LOTS of you) ... it's just not my bag, man!

Now Sherlock on the other hand ..... we watched Episode 1 on Sunday night, Baskervilles last night and hopefully (before I read any more spoilers on Twitter) the finale tonight. Dominic thingmejig is really good, but I just love Martin Freeman. He was the reason I watched The Office (him, and Mackenzie Crook) - he's just fab! (he even does roodery bits in Love Actuaally ... tsk tsk!) Who knows, I may even venture to the cinema to see The Hobit next Christmas, just as long as his toes aren't too hairy ....

CLP - a flask of hot Bovril is what you need for your star gazing!

Sherlock was very good, watched both episodes of Edwin Drood last night, this was Dickens unfinished last book.
Very dissapointed with the production and a hamfisted attempt to finish the great mans work.
Best ever voice for me is Richard Burton, I do like Moira Stewarts warm sensual timbre though.

  • Comment number 5.

Deevs - You will love Martin Freeman in the finale, so sensitive and just fab.

  • Comment number 6.

I'm back and I've changed my mind, I would love James Blunt's voice, I could listen to his SPEAKING voice all day long!

  • Comment number 7.

Deevs - gotta be David Tennant for me his scottish lilt............ oooohhhh!

Martin Freeman was brill in the finale, enjoy it tonight.

    Oooh, I'm all excited now!

I've got a "thing" about proper English voices: Alan Rickman, Hugh Grant, Patrick Stewart ..... lovely!

Getting somewhat distracted by the cricket now as Graeme Swann is batting (they're at tea at the moment tho). Now, how on earth did I manage to miss just how gorgeous many of our cricketers are .....!?!?!

    Hello CE & Everyone.

A cold and frosty morning here too, I think some snow may be on the way.

I must admit that I haven't watched Sherlock, I'll go to the i Player.

Tonight's S targazing should be good all about the scary black holes and also how the Milky Way galaxy was formed.

Deevs-My voice of choice would be Michael Portillo, a very clear sounding voice. Been watching Great British Railway Journeys every evening on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ2 and love the way he explains things. He is a politician who is very genuine and gone on to do nice things instead of seeking a fat cat position.

I liked him when he came to Wallasey to take the place of a single parent for a week and he was very genuine and not just doing it for the publicity.

    Aye Up!

It's nuts, innit!?!? I've not stopped today (apart from a bit of Swanny Time when he was in at the Crease ...!) Been writing press releases and blogs, putting a pricing proposal together, replying to emails ...... I think I may be getting somewhere!

Also, man has been to clean the oven and it looks like new! He's even put a new bulb in for me so now I'll be able to see my cakes rise when I embark on my next batch of baking - hurrah!

Screen break needed soon, maybe I'll treat myself to the GBBO Sport Relief final which is gathering dust on the Cloud+ box.

    And breathe .....

    Afternoon.....

Chris - Sherlock was fab, Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are fab, not sure I can wait until they've done their Hollywood stints for the next lot!!!

Stargazing live was watched and enjoyed, so much so that t'other couldn't drag himself away to do the washing up!

Had a nothing kind of day today, not stopped but couldn't tell you what I've done!!

T'other has spent some time on the phone and found us somewhere to rent in the Orkneys until we can get a mortgage sorted for 'the big house', so all is not lost! And he's also found a way of getting the RN to pay for some of the moving costs which is good! Let the packing commence!

    Evening each

Haven't watched Sherlock but daughter keeps telling me I'd enjoy it - must have a look.

No frost here this morning but had to scrape the car yesterday.

9yr old was telling me all about the stars and planets tonight so I got my volume 8 of my Newnes Pictorial Knowledge (about 60 yrs old) and he was amazed that we knew nothing back then.

Haven't caught up but I see you've got somewhere to live in Orkney eb, and good luck with the packing. Bet you'll have tons of black bags for the binmen.

    Evening all

Just checking to reassure Sezza all is well in Oz land (it's nice to have been missed), I do try to read weekly even if I don't post much anymore. Busy bee as ever and mid stuffing some boxes myself for relocation to the loft (I have a tall visitor due this weekend who I intend to take advantage of ;) ). Sezza may be amused to learn one of the boxes is full of back issues of the Comic, which I've been flicking through idly as I pack them. Scary how many people in them I know after all these years.

Good luck to anyone else having a declutter (must borrow a shredder again soon myself), the trip down memory lane while you do so can be a long one.

Hugs to all in need (and a spare one for those not in need right now)

    Morning everyone

It's a proper soggy morning here in the Midlands, but no ice to scrape off cars, which is a grand thing!

    Quiet at the mo, innit?

Annie - we watched the finale of Sherlock last night and yes, it really is an example of how outstanding, edge-of-the-seat drama should be written and acted. Bring on Series 3 ......!

Anyone seen AliB lately? Ali .... where are you? Hope all's OK xx

That goes to other long-lost bloggers too - Baggy et al. Come back and play. Please!

Fair bit to do today as I took on a couple of new jobs yesterday (yay!!). Must try NOT to be to distracted by Graeme Swann's bowling stance.

    :-))

    Catch y'all laters.

    Mange tout.

LOL Bids - I quite like Dew! ;-)

Early bird indeed. There's roadworks in the M5 which greatly affect Nic's drive to work (took him an hour and a half Mon/Tues) so in an effort NOT to be late the alarm has been set for Even Earlier O'Clock. I know I don't have to get up with him but it seems to make sense to keep the same time so that we're both tired at the same time (about 10pm at the mo!).

Well it makes perfick sense to me ......

Soooooooooooooooo glad it's hump day already.

    Hi Chris and the team

Back in the 1960's when mum was a servicing RAF officer she went to a breakfast champagne party hosted by Roger Moore. At the time he was just starting to become famous for The Saint, but yet to play Bond

    Hi everyone:

Hope all's well this fine Wednesday. Well, it's not really fine weather-wise, but you know what I mean!

We watched Sherlock last night - absolutely breathtaking. I predict that both Benedict and Martin will win Oscars in the next couple of years - once Hollywood gets a hold of those two guys, their careers are going to go stratospheric! In the meantime, I am relieved to know we have another series of Sherlock to look forward to.

Yesterday was our 36th wedding anniversary - I have absolutely no idea where those 36 years have gone, and I wish I could get them back! We had a lovely meal last night and after Sherlock, we had a wee bottle of bubbly, and remembered what a great day we had at our wedding. Awwww!

eb: that's great that things are still moving along with your plans.

Cheryl: you are sounding on top form - it's terrific that things are all coming together for you.

CSN: just to let you know, I am thinking of you - I know you are going through a horrible time at the moment. xx

Have a good hump day, all.

    C xx

    Morning All

Bless you Deevs and Bids, I am here and all is well. I was indeed at Lambeth Palace yesterday. Since last Friday it's been busy, busy busy and I've not really been on 'tin ternet.

Met the Arch Bish yesterday and he comes across a lot better in the flesh than on the telly and his eyebrows actually looked quite neat!

Congrats to Chrissie and Hubby xx

Bingo, Thanks for replying about photographs, I'll look out for them on the other side.

I am sure lots of other things have happened, so hugs all round if you need them.
