Show. ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ. Housework...

Chris Evans | 11:14 UK time, Thursday, 12 January 2012

Housework, not around the house. But on the house. There are plans you see. It's a new year and it's all very exciting. And why the heck not ? Beth, our German Shepherd, is in charge of most of the big decisions, with Noah her deputy. Tash comes next and then it's me - I think.

Right, off to receive my orders.

Actually there is talk of a mackerel omelette first. Whoopee !

Peace and Love.

Morning Chris - good to see that you know your place! ;-)

I'm guessing there's plans to make way for the new Evo model joinging the clan later in the Spring? We're planning for a new arrival too - no, not of the baby kind, but a cute wee puppy! I've made some tentative enquiries to breeders, and yesterday invested in a book that tells us everything we need to know about how to raise a puppy, I also went to the vets to ask about their Puppy Club. We're hoping the little fella (an English Springer) will be part of the ChezNic dynasty in early March, and we're both so excited!

I just need to overcome by queasiness of all things poopy .....

Mackerel omelette. Hmmm, not so sure about that one. A nice chorizo and mushroom omelette with melted cheese on the other hand!

    Mange tout, and happy planning.

    Hello CE & Everyone.

I was thinking the same as Deevs, plans for a nursery maybe. Seeing as Beth is in charge with Noah as Deputy and Tash before you Chris I'm guessing that it has nothing to do with the garage.

Omelettes! Hurrah! I've just reurned from the docs with a calcium supplement due to a deficiency, I had to reduce all dairy products after a heart attack five years ago and now it seems I need more. So there'll be many omelettes and boiled, poached, fried, scrambled eggs. HURRAH!

Never heard of a mackeral omelette though!

Bingles - thanks for the niceness, and happy drilling!

Maddy - as our CLP is last in the pecking order, one can only assume he also ends up footing all the bills for the decisions made by General Beth, Corporal Noah and Sargeant Tash!

    Hello everyone,

It would be great to be planning that type of "house work", we live in a 300 year old house and unfortunately we can't afford to do all the things we would love to with it, never mind, maybe our numbers will come up one day, until then though we will just get on with it and be grateful for what we have got.

It is a beautiful sunny day here in Ayrshire, which is such a treat as we've had nothing but rain and winds since before Christmas.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Hello,
We have blue skies today , and its certainly very welcome indeedy.

Glad everyone is ticking along, and it's almost Friday too.

Sezza, just wanted to say I noted the book you had just been reading, and have decided to buy it . It looks good, so I will let you know. :-) Mind you , i can take upto a year to finish a book, so keep giving me a nudge please .

Chrissie, - from previous blog re the car damage, yes, a real sickener, and £250 to get it fixed arrrggggghhhh. Hope your daughter and her partner are very happy in their new home too .

My internet connection was playing up at home last night, so I am trying to cram all my "things to do" in my lunch hour. I keep forgetting my passwords to sign into places and have to keep re- setting stuff, and it's driving me nuts.
Right .... must dash, things to log into etc etc etc.

    Afternoon,

    Hello Cathmel!

Bingo, I hope you've taken some "before" photographs and then remember to take some "after" ones to show us all the hard work you have done.

    Maddy, Hooray for eating eggs!

Not sure about the mackerel omelette! Do you know I don't think I've ever made an omelette, I can make pretty good scrambled eggs though! Talking of which I've got some salmon in the freezer!

Thanks to those who reassured me that I hadn't offended anyone, I got quite panicky about it! Thanks too for the nice words :)

    Evening each

Ali - as if you could ever offend anyone - silly woman!

Deevs, am so jealous of you getting a Springer - I just love them - but, yes, the poop scoop stuff isn't nice.

Heard most of the show this morning as I was up before dawn and off for a meeting. Was lovely to hear Bob Dylan. I know - he can't sing - but what he sings about, to my mind, is fabby.

    Nice to see you Cathmel.

Maddy, glad you've got eggs back in your life. Nothing nicer than a mushroom and cheese omelette.

PS: thank you for the comments about my friend. He is an inspiration to me - planning a road trip to Croatia to see his sister. Thank goodness 3 other friends are going with him - it will be a lovely memory for them.

    Evening all

Ok, you've persuaded me! Off to Romford Dogs it is! Deevs, I think it's the Tenner Fish n Chip deal we're going for too!

My baby bro thinks that's the only celebration for his birthday!! Little does he know!

Annie, Your friend sounds great. Should we be holding a FNWC in his honour do you think? :-)

MC, we all found that book unputdownable so hope you enjoy it!

Anyone know who Chris's guest is in the morning - if he's having one?

  • Comment number 12.

Sezza, Romford Dogs sounds great - enjoy the fish n chips. Are there other celebrations he doesn't know about?

A FNWC with a raised glass to him sounds good. He'd like that.

Sorry to hear about you friend - is he one of the gang I met that time?

Weather definitely getting colder here now although it has been a wonderfully bright day today.

Love to all and hugs to those that still need them.

  • Comment number 16.

Yes Susan, you were sitting next to him - my dear Blackie

And I feel the same about Heston whatsit.

A lovely sunny day here today too - the sun showed up the inside of my mingin' car!!

  • Comment number 17.

Not sure I fancy whatever Heston Whotsits would think up for breakfast!! Shrimp Krispies anyone!

Annie, He thinks curry with close family but there may be a few more people at Mum and Dads than he expects!

His birthday is on 26th and boy2's is on 28th so we're borrowing boy2's evening for a joint celebration!

Talking of take or leave, anyone want a lollopy great teenager!! Going free to a good home!!

    Or just any home really!!

Anywhere except leaning on my arm while I'm trying to type!

    Sezza xxxx

  • Comment number 18.

Oh Sezza, I just loved my lollopy great teenagers - but I don't think I want another one - just you keep him. Curry night for your brother sounds lovely.

  • Comment number 19.

Annie, he's gone off "in a huff!!! or a taxi!!" haha.

HAs taken himself upstairs, probably back on the computer til bed!

It is lovely that he still wants a snuggle but he's bigger than me!! Makes it hard for him to sit on my lap!!

    xxx

  • Comment number 20.

Oh bless Sezza, I'm sure you know how lucky you are. It's not many teens who need a cuddle from their Mum.

Our 12yr old and 9yr old still cuddle - long may it continue. xxxxx

  • Comment number 21.

    Hi all

I tend to have a lollopy dog on my arm when I'm trying to type... not swapping him for a teenager though! lol

Sezza, you'll love the dogs! I've been to Belle Vue in Manchester a few times...brilliant! Yes, it's the same circuit the Speedway racers use... pity the poor bloke that has to get the track sorted!!

On a more serious note, my 12 year old niece has been diagnosed with anxiety/depression, anyone got any experience of dealing with this at such a young age?

She keeps wanting to chat to me online, and I don't want to say the wrong thing!! She's angling towards wanting to live with me, but I won't have that unless it's the last resort!!

    JG x

  • Comment number 22.

I'm off - have to be up at stupid o'clock tomorrow to look after 6yr old and 1yr old - the one who bites!!

JG - no easy answer for the 12yr old but I don't think you should even contemplate letting her live with you. She obviously has issues and it's awful that she's suffering at such a young age but I would hope that the Educational Psychologist at her school will help her.

    xxx

  • Comment number 23.

    Thanks Annie!

I wouldn't have her here unless it got really desperate, she has the Grandma option first.... I don't "do" kids and she'd be well out of her depth here in Wigan!!

    Definitely not "streetwise"... lol

    JG x (Who's not Mum-wise)

  • Comment number 24.

JG, are you sure you don't want a lollopy teenager to balance up the other arm? ;-)

Not sure what to advise for your niece except be there to listen, reassure her where you can and don't let her come to you!!! Maybe you could talk to your sister so you know that what you say to your niece "fits" with ither support she is getting

Also, maybe you could arrange to ring her or let her ring you - it's easier to talk sometimes than write

  • Comment number 25.

    Thanks Sezza, but no thanks!

I think a lot of her issues are down to her not feeling loved by my sister...my sister has always favoured the older one, and she and her husband split up when the youngest was about 2 yo...

My sister is very difficult to talk to, even Mum gets an ear-bashing despite being a major support at the moment with the kids, the dog and fuel for the Rayburn....Mum is walking the dog for 3 hours a day at the moment...

I won't ever let her come here, that's not an option, don't worry!!

She's so chuffed with her new phone, I think she likes the chat thing...but I will ring more often!

    Thanks x

    Good morning all,

Beautiful blue sky here this morning but when ~I drew the curtains back there was Jack Frost sitting on the top of my car, how dare he!! It will probably be gone by the time I'm due to shoot of to work.

Can't believe it's Friday yet again,I shouldn't be surprised it comesround every week ,but just seems to get here quicker each time around.
So it's a nice relaxing w/end instore for me ...so what have you all got planned??

I hope whatever it is, it's going to be enjoyable.

    Take care ...Bids.xxx

Sezza ,Lollopy boys ,your house sounds like the ideal home all warm and cuddly and all your making ,and you cant beat that when teen boys still want to be close. But if they are bit on the tall side ,you could always try chopping them off at the knees lol.

JG,Not a nice time for girlies at that age and she sounds as though she good could do with a lovely cuddle ,hope she finds some solace soon

    Hi everyone:

Trying to catch up, have had such a busy week in the office, it has played havoc with my blogging!

MC: what a nightmare having to pay that for your car to be repaired, no wonder you feel like screaming. Thank you for your lovely good wishes for MsS and boyfriend. We were at their flat during the holiday period and her boyfriend said to me: "I can't wait to get home here, that's when you know are happy". Can't ask for more than that, can I?

Annie: when I was about 14, I nicked my brother's Bob Dylan's greatest hits album - I loved it. I know he drones on at times, but some of the stuff he has written is quite brilliant. That's lovely to hear about your friend visiting his sister. As you say, that will be a wonderful memory.

Sezza: I hope your brother loves his surprise for his birthday! And, yes, you will have a fabulous night at "the dogs". It is so exciting!

JG: your niece will definitely need a lot of help and understanding, but I do agree that she can't come to live with you. That responsibility would be enormous. I hope she gets to see a pyschologist, as there is no way she can get through this without proper help. Also, re: your comment on Belle Vue Speedway track, I was there, aged 12, with my Mum and Dad, have never forgotten it!

Annie: oooh, just checked out that song by Mary Chapin Carpenter - just what I needed at 9am - a good "greet"! xx

Hope everyone has a good day.

    Morning!

Had friends round last night and the Orkney whiskey came out, so feeling a bit delicate this morning! But t'other got up with the boy and took him up to school so I managed a lie-in of sorts (t'other kept popping his head round the door with questions like, does he need food, can he wear his wellies, where's his bag.....)

We may have a solution for the cost of moving, the family we're leasing from still have lots of stuff in the house, so we may be able to tag us moving up to them moving down with the same company from up there, so effectively share the cost. Its a logistical nightmare and may mean the boy and I (and grumpy dog) have to go back to my mum's for a bit.....

Sezza - I hope that when the boy is a lollopy teen I still get cuddles, my nephew is 15 tomorrow at gives great cuddles when you see him (he lives in Sweden!) so I have hope!

JG - Hope your niece is ok xx

Right, on with staring at all our stuff and panicking!

afternoon peeps, long time no blog! No excuses, just got distracted by the festive season and not being in work and sort of went 'off the boil'!

I have tried to catch up with all the news but there's just too much, so hugs to those who need them; well done and hooray's to those who have achieved something; and a hi-de-hi to the rest.

Had two and half weeks off in Dec/Jan and slobbed out like a good 'un.

Back at work now and all systems are go.

end of part 1 (as having trouble posting)

    part 2 ..

On the news front, best bit is that Adam has at last got a job! Not the one of his dreams but employment nonetheless.
It is in a local'ish general store (Sp*r) and he is responsible for the 'Food to Go' counter from 07.45 to 2pm 3 days a week plus 07.30 to 12.30 on Saturday.
He's not liking the early mornings but isn't grumbling too much, and does enjoy the feel of some cash in his pocket.

For me - new play in rehearsals for end of March - Pack of Lies by Hugh Whitemore. I play Barbara. Based on a true set of events. Lots of lines to learn but looking forward to it.

Also Wrexham has a community choir! First session was Tuesday and it was fab!
About 100 complete strangers - probably half of which have never sung other than in the shower in their lives and by the end of 2 hours we were singing Rhythm of Life in 4 part harmony. I can't wait for next week.

Must get on with today's work, so
    ttfn, Crumpy xx

    HI everyone,

Another beautiful sunny day here in Ayrshire, with a hard frost this morning.

Well done to Adam on the job front, as you say it may not be his ideal job but at least it is one!

Disappointed that I missed Bear on the show this morning, I watched his programmes with Miranda and Jonathan Ross and thoroughly enjoyed them, I would love to do something like that.

Well, I am so pleased it's Friday, first week of the new year almost done and dusted.
It's forecast to be frosty this weekend, but that will hopefully mean the sun will shine - yipeee.

    me again:

Crumpy: great news about Adam - well done to him! And good to hear your news, the choir sounds terrific - I am now singing Rythm of Life in my head! Lovely to see you, I miss you here. xx

MC: I agree with Ali, it's lovely to see you blogging again. xx

Eb: I missed the blog a couple of days this week, but I assume you have a very big move ahead of you? Susan and I can come and help you with the packing - we are "old hands" at that sort of thing!

CB: thinking of you - hope everything went well today. xx

Gail: I thought of David last night when I saw the gritters out and about, bless them. Wee bit of a slippery walk to the train station this morning. I was sort of shuffling along, baby steps, when from behind me, this utter goddess in high heel leather boots strode past me at a hundred miles an hour! HOW do they do it?!

AliB: early start for you tomorrow - still, they do say you get much more out of the day when you are up and out early!

MrS stops tonight for a week's holiday - he had to work right through the festive period. He is so excited, he's taking me to the pub tonight for a soda water or three! Usually, I'm not too keen on the pub on a Friday night - it's busy and noisy. But, he feels like he's a free man, so I'll go along, purely to be sociable, you understand!

If I don't get back here today, have a lovely weekend everyone.
