My mate, Marky Mark...

Chris Evans | 11:59 UK time, Thursday, 8 September 2011

...has a six item breakfast every morning

Oh, plus chips! Sets him right up for the day, he says. "Why six items?" I asked him. "'Cos it's six items for a fiver with tea and toast."

I didn't ask him how much the chips cost.

How the bloke who owns the gaff does it, we don't know. Probably not the cheapest in Britain, but nor bad considering central London rent and rates.

In other thinner news, just come off the phone from Alex Jones. She is at her umpteenth Strictly costume fitting this week. "They gave me one dress and I said where's the other half - it was so small" she told me.

She's a one that girl. Cracks me right up she does. Already a star, she's only going to get bigger, in one way if not the other.

Peace and Love and look out for that new Scorcese George Harrison documentary. I've only seen half of it thus far, but it was as good a two hours of fascination as a person could hope for.

    Morning CLP!

I love a good breakfast - when Nic and I were in York recently the B&B breakfast was absolutely wonderful - and NO black pudding!

I'll be sorting out the pre-Children In Need breakfast soon. Last year we took over a cafe just round the corner from R2: it could be same venue again this year unless you can recommend Marky Mark's breakfast venue of choice.

(I am still baffled - and disturbed - by the Chris Moyles "groupies" lurking outside the R1 building ...!)

Sadly, breakfast at the mo is cereal and a yogurt, thanks to the "tone the wobbly bits" countdown to getting on a plane for sunnier climes in a couple of weeks.

Really excited about Strictly - just love it! Here's hoping Ms Jones does well (will she dance to Robbie's Have You Met Miss Jones, I wonder?) but also hope that the divine Jason Donovan does well, and that Robbie Savage prives us all wrong and shows that really, he is a lovely chap .....

    Muchos Amore!

    Hello CE & Everyone.

I've been waiting as I didn't want to be first again, it's just coincidence that I usually log on and there is a new blog LOL!

Marky Mark is right CLP as breakfast is the most important meal of the day. However I'm a bit concerned that he might not be burning off the calories due to being a chauffeur.

I'm sure that Alex will look great in her costumes and I hope she wins the contest. And we're waiting to see you next year Chris.

George Harrison, what a lovely person! I love all his songs especially Here Comes The Sun, My Sweet Lord and the more lighthearted Got My Mind Set On You.

    Hello everyone,

Long time no see but have been lurking..........I promise.

I hope you are all feeling great :-))))

Just stopping for a bite of lunch and thought I would say 'Hi'. I don't think I would cope with eating that much for breakfast. A couple of weetabix or a slice or two of wholemeal toast keeps me going 'till lunch.

Lunch today was some ryvita (other cardboad like crispbreads available) with low fat pate, tomato, yogurt and apple.

Anyway back to the grindstone - have a great day everyone

Hello everyone, just stopped for a bowl of pasta to try and warm myself up from the inside and a catch up

Loved the moose story this morning and CLP I do love it when you do your giggles and whoops! Now I want to say - Bring Back Noah - not enough of him these days.

Well the Beeb got the weather wrong again - should be chucking it down but the sun has actually come out.

And heres something I've never seen before - the man came to collect my car for its MOT this morning on a small motorbike, then folded it up and put it in my boot!!!! And I dont mean like a motorised push bike, but a proper full on mini bike! *walks away shaking head in wonder*

    Chris,

6 items of anything for breakfast seems too much for me and that's before we get to chips, certainly on a regular basis. Not the way to cultivate the figure of a racing snake! Smoked salmon and scrambled egg with brown toast for breakfast was nice on our week off last week, though I wouldn't want it every day. Looking forward to a breakfast of fresh Greek bread and an orange juice, sitting on the balcony, in the sun, looking out over the sea in a couple of weeks. It's been a dreadful week at work so far and could potentially get worse before the end of the year, so I am looking forward to some sun, some reading, no interruptions and some relaxation with Deevski naturally :-)

So looking forward to SCD. Mr PF won't know what's hit him. I'm sure I can find something for him to do. Best I make a list, hehe!

    Afternoon all

Can't beat a proper cooked breakfast! When I used to work in Halifax the local Woollies used to do a cracking five items for £2 and our corridor would regularly disappear en-masse to partake.

So much so that often the boss would appear over the partition in the cafe having looked in vain for his staff. Happy Days!

Afternoon all, nice to see you.

I don't generally eat breakfast as can't stomach food till I've been upright for a couple of hours, and as I'm a terror for getting out of bed in the mornings, that usually means I don't eat till teabreak at work. However, yesterday after my hospital appt, I was leaving the premises and walked by the cafe where they were serving breakfast. I know hospital food does not have the best reputation but my fry up was b****y lovely. And all for less than £3 :-)

Now.....can someone please recap on how to do the BOLD thing? I thangyou.

Christoff - I had a very long dream last night which involved being at your house. If my dreams bear any resemblance to reality, your Natasha can't half put away some champagne. I don't think we need the lovely dream expert (Ian, as I recall) for this one - I think it simply means I want to hang out with you and I'm a bit of a lush. There you go.

Really looking forward to Strictly. However, here's a confession for you. No one's going to talk to me after this. Since the very first series I have been a devoted Big Brother viewer. Yes, I know everyone thinks it's a waste of air time but I have always found it fascinating. Put anyone in that environment for long enough and it will always be interesting, as far as I'm concerned. I'll be watching the final tonight and loving it.

(Umm, I'll also be finishing that chapter on quantum mechanics and thumbing through some Socrates as well. Obviously).

I don't want to think 'ow come the bulb is missin' from the light but I've a nasty weal round me wrist that suspiciously matches the plaited flex. See. That's what talkin' about all them sparkly costumes does to me. Am as jealous as a stuffed squirrel in a nut factory.

An' talkin' a dreams... blow me down wit a wet mackerel Barmy, I wouldn't a put yous down for watchin' Big Blubber. Yous'd 'ave to tie me to a chair in a neck-brace. Mad as a bottle a wasps but you have to just love 'em. I do remember bein' glued to the prequel to I'm An Eejit..Shoot Me; called Survivor if anybody remembers that. Now it just makes me want to trow me cheesy crumpet at the telly. But you're SO right about Ant an' Dec, they're the reason it's still one a my guilty pleasures but don't tell anybody. But Big Bladder? Na. Rather be put in the stocks wit a wasp up me jumper.

Right, best go an' investigate a suspicious rattlin' downstairs, I left Renee pluggin' in the spin-dryer. She has a washer of course, but It Doesn't Give Things A Proper Spin. She'd 'ave the mangle back in a heartbeat but that was finally confiscated when she caught Eric's tie in with the bedspread. If 'e 'adn't loosened the knot a bit 'e'd 'ave bin' trottled good an' proper.

Debs: just to say, yes, it was so exciting when you answered my call to CiN last year! And I don't want to wish my life away, but I am so looking forward to 18th Nov!

AliB: oooh, I am looking forward to giving you a hug, too!

Loving all the "bold" stuff - too frightened to try it!

Re: Red or Black - please forgive me if I have told this story on the blog before, but I think it's a wee bit appropriate at the moment. Years ago, I went to the casino with two other girls in the office. One of the girls knew her way round the roulette table, shall we say, and me and the other girl knew absolutely nothing about it! So, friend No.1 is making a tidy sum on choosing numbers on the wheel, friend No.2 and I are choosing "red or black". The only problem was, every time we played, she played red, and I played black. Or vice versa. So, of course either red or black would win - every time. We were jumping for joy, thought we were doing brilliantly! This went on for quite some time, with us jumping and whooping every few minutes. That is, until the manager came up to us and said: "look, you can do this all night, it's no skin off my nose - but you do realise, don't you, that you are winning nothing ... you have to CHOOSE between red or black" .... aaarrggh!

Have a great Friday everyone, thank goodness it has arrived at last!

Good morning everyone from a very wet and grey Ayrshire.

Happy Birthday Daisy, have a great day. X

Sezza, have a fantastic time on Sunday, sounds like it's going to be brilliant.

Having 2 work colleagues/friends and their OHs over for their dinner on Saturday night, we are having Delia's Beef Bourgiguion (sp), which is delish as I have made it before, there's something wrong with our main oven, every time we switch it on it blows all the fuses in the kitchen so I will have to make the whole thing in the top oven, so I will be making it tonight and just re-heating tomorrow night along with the plates, that is if there's enough room, I do hate hot food served on a cold plate!

    Have a good weekend everyone.

    X

Happy Birthday Daisy so hope you're having a lovely day.

Gail, the best item I've been bought is a plate warmer, wonderful thing.

I'm now even more excited about Sunday as Gary Barlow is the main man :) along of course with you Chris.

    Morning,

It's a bit overcast here but quite muggy, so I didn't perhaps need all those layers this morning!

Lovely to read the banter from last night, it was like old times :)

This weekend I shall mostly be driving on the M1! My brother and his wife are having a party to celebrate their 25th tomorrow night. So I shall drive up to Nottingham in the morning, missing England's first rugby match - not happy about that - and then drive back in the middle of the night. Sunday I shall be mostly sleeping! I shall also miss the start of Strictly too, the things you do for your family ;)

    Happy Birthday Daisy xxx

    Is it lunchtime yet?

Gail: I am sure that meal will be delicious, I must check it out. When I don't have room in the oven, I fill up the sink with really hot water and place the dishes in there for a good few minutes, then pull out the plug (so I don't get burned!) and then just dry off the dishes. Just an idea, and it may work! Have a lovely time with your friends.

Propa: hiya! Yes, it did spoil our fun, but I suppose he was looking to start making some money from us! So, you are for Hyde Park on Sunday, too? Have a fabulous time!

Hi AliB: have a lovely time with your family, I am sure it will be worth all the effort you are making.

    Gail,

I do what Chrissie does as well, sometimes I even boil a kettle and pour a bit on each plate and then stack them. Obviously I wouldn't do that if it was bone china! But my Denby seems to withstand it.

To all those going to Hyde Park tomorrow or Sunday, have a wonderful time - what a line up eh? Jealous, moi, never ;) xx

Has anyone got a massive umbrella I could borrow, just seen the weather forecast for Sunday, and think I might get a tad soggy.

That's funny Crumpy, I was just thinking that usually on a friday everyone is saying how much they enjoyed the guest, but there has been no mention of Joan from this morning, I usually quite like her as well.

    Hello Bloggeroonies!

I cannot abide hot food served up on cold plates. We’ve been to pubs that do it, never to return!

Chrissie, love the casino story. Like you, I wouldn’t have a clue!

AliB, enjoy your weekend. That sounds like a massive round trip. Have a safe journey. Now, am I going silly or have you changed your moniker?

Crumpy, I quite like Joan and thought she was very good.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAISY xx

Dry and not so bright here, but quite muggy.

Lunch has been consumed, left over pasta and a slice of M&S Lemon Meringue Pie (also left over)...yum yum.

I enjoyed Joan this morning, she was very entertaining. She is the same age as my Mum, not that you'd know it if you put them side by side. Let's just say my Mum looks her age and Joan doesn't, perhaps that's because my Mum has let nature take it's course and not done anything done ;)

Not long till home time, I love an early finish on a Friday.

    Crumps..good to see you!

Have a great weekend everyone... me? It being a big horserace in my town this weekend I shall mostly be dodging the drunk people on leaving work tomorrow evening...and then hibernating the rest of it. The town centre is NOT a place to be on race week weekend!

Oh, and I`ll be watching Jenson or Lewis win the GP too of course... a girl can dream!

    Love to all...happy weekends!

    Afternoon all,

sorry I didn't hear Miss Collins today was otherwise busy and couldn't have the radio on ,but I did catch a couple of words from young Noah as I was on my way to work ,bless his little cotton socks.
but did see Joan on the one show the other night..she must be doing a promotion tour.

Casinos only ever been to one many years ago ,the old Bunny club that was .I went with my daughter and her friend and her friends mother .I was so excited and couldn't wait to go ,we were going there for a meal and also for a little gamble ..all £5-00's worth ,said that's all that I would spend and when it was gone that was it .£5-00 then was not a bad amount.
Only ever did the bingo just the once and vowed never ever again ,I've always had to work hard for my money and I'd rather give it away rather than loose it like that .but I must admit to having the odd lottery ticket if I'm out for the day or on holibobs.

Scooby , don't blame you for keeping low tomorrow.lol enjoy your w/end.

Daisy, Hello my dear how nice to see you and did I notice your friend popping in ???
Just want to wish you a Happy Birthday and hope that you've had a lovely day .And I'm sure there will be lots of hugs flying around at home tonight and here is one from me {{{hug}}} there you go .

Maddy ,Pen ,hope your both well ,and Maddy was quite jealous of them chips your were scoffing on the other night .lol.

Better go before I get kicked out..

Sezza, Propacar, Enjoy Sunday ,will be thinking of you .and the umbrella thing ,what about taking one of those pop up gazebos ,wont get wet under one of those, lol. twas just a thought .
