Hanging With The Wrong Shower

Chris Evans | 10:48 UK time, Tuesday, 23 November 2010

Our shower doesn't work - plain and simple, actually we have no hot water at all and after just arriving home now, and opening the car door to go back inside, I can feel the temperature has plummeted since 5 a.m. when I left this morning. Oh dear, this does not bode well.

I am appearing on a television show later where I have to pretend Christmas is over as it airs on the 27th of Dec - something I wasn't looking forward to doing - and then I realised! The dressing room will have a shower, a really hot, powerful one - I know it will, I've been on the show before.

So, for the sake of a hot douche, I am happy to fake it. Shallow, moi ? If there's no hot water - mais qui, bien sur !

How are you supposed to pretend that Christmas has been and gone for another year in November when it's all to exciting?!

  • Comment number 2.

HAHA! First comment - how exciting! Anyhoo work to do :)

Deevs, supposed to snow here at the end of the week too. LOL!

    Morning all

Got on here at last - the beeb have been doing something with the ID site so I haven't been able to comment.

I'm still not thinking about the C word - I've got a holiday to go on first you know (actually I must get round to doing my cards as it will be too late when we get back).

Congratulations for the mensh on Ken Bruce this morning Keith and baby George. I always give a whoop when I hear the name of somebody I know.

Weather wise, we have light snow forecast for Saturday but this has changed since yesterday when it said there was going to be sleet tomorrow...

Debs, if you get the chance to catch up/lurk, hope the new job is going well.

Hi Chris: oooh, I could not live for even a single day without hot water or central heating! Hope the problem is resolved today!

A little weird, I would think, to be recording a programme today that won't be shown until after Christmas ... but, hey, that's showbiz!

    Enjoy your hot shower!

  • Comment number 7.

It's forecasted that it might snow tomorrow afternoon here - it's a little concerning as I'm driving myself and two of my colleagues to Stoke tomorrow for a meeting - I don't want to get stuck somewhere in bad weather.

If you thought I was excited about CiN on Thursday (and I guess Friday before we got to the Beeb) well Christmas is like that but worse lol.

  • Comment number 8.

Ooooh Hannah - if you're off to Stoke wave at me and Nic as you pass Cannockshire!

csn - I will head to the pharmacy after work for some good old fashioned cough syrup. You know - the stuff that tastes like creosote and makes you sleep for 8 hours non stop! Or is that Ouzo ....?

Chris, enjoy your hot shower. I have to admit, you can't beat a good shower. Hot and steamy in the winter but icy cold in the summer. Lovely!

Christmas cards ..... thanks for the mental note mtd. Need to get ones-self in gear for sure!

I sat in front of the TV yesterday and made like 11 homemade cards to send out to different family members. Now need to work on presents argh!

Deevs - will be sure to :)

  • Comment number 11.

I tried making my own cards 2 or 3 years ago. I spent so much money on the bits and bobs, and it took an absolute lifetime to do, so I will definitely be sticking to shop-bought ones in the future!

    Good Morning CLP & Everyone.

A very bright but cold day here in Wirral, going colder as the day goes on.

    Nooooo!!!!! No hot water Chris!

I had plenty of hot water but no cup of tea this morning. I've been on a 14 (now almost 16) hour fast, nothing but water, because of blood tests.

I'm now enjoying my first lovely cup of tea soon to be followed by two pasties and more tea.

You'll have to be a good actor to pretend Christmas is over Chris and you'll need to look a bit fatter.

  • Comment number 23.

Just a quick Hellooooooooo from me.

I seriously hope that the snow that has been forecast is only a light dusting. The very mention of the word makes me feel quite ill.

I know some of our more Northerly bloggers have had some this winter already. Take care, anyone that has to be out in such awful conditions. I'm just off to load the boot with essentials.

Roll on Spring. On a 'lighter' note, its only 4 weeks till the shortest day.

For that very reason, a big HURRAH!

MTF, who is walking around scratching her head in confusion!(I just know that November the 23rd is a significant date, but cant think why!.xx)

  • Comment number 24.

    Afternoon all,

CLP a hot shower is a must and the price is not too high!!!!

I have not been great recently (although CIN really helped) and today my GP has signed me off work for a couple of weeks so I shall be around quite a lot.

Hannah - you are really creative with your cards - I wish I had that skill.

Kandks - hope uni is passing quick

Deevs - when does the new job start? Good luck anyway aand I hope your sore throat is improving.

    Hi everyone,

Lovely and sunny and dry, but cold here in Ayrshire.

Had a lovely week off last week and our couple of days away were great, went a 10 mile walk on Tuesday and a 12 mile one on Wednesday, but still managed to put weight on, can't be anything to do with the cooked breakfast every morning, the 4 course meal every night or the bottle of wine now could it?

The hotel had radio 2 on in the dining room in the mornings so it was great to listen to CLP whilst having breakfast.

Well done to everyone who helped out with CIN, by the look of the photos you all had a blast (hard work too though).

Far too many posts to catch up on since I have been off work, hope you all have a good day.

Oh forgot to say, when we left Pitlochry we drove to Braemar and when we went past Glenshee it was snowing and there was a light covering on the ground, it was lovely but when we went down out of the mountains, it was just pouring with rain - as usual.

Going to see Heaven 17 tonight, looking forward to it!

    Afternoon each

Couldn't do without my shower and central heating Chris, in fact the heating's on now - it's bloomin' cold out there.

I've now got the wrapping paper and tags so I can start wrapping those pressies - I'm so impressed with myself.

Snow forecast here for tomorrow too.

Hope you feel better soon Deevs.

Gail, sounds like a lovely holiday.

Right, back to the Equality Act.

    xxxx

  • Comment number 32.

Question is, Anne, have you got anything to wrap up??

Was without hot water for a few days last month myself, CLP, so I know exactly how you feel! Still, it was a good excuse to go to the gym. In that respect, I could do with it again!

Deev, guess there's not much around at this time of year (and particularly this year) but hope something better comes along for you x

Cathmel, hope you're feeling better soon, and the bit of time away from work does you good. I'm feeling a bit like I'm on a treadmill at the moment with it, but hoping to slog on til Christmas. Am I allowed to say the C word yet by the way?

Hannah J, nice to 'meet' a fellow card maker! I've done around 10, but still a way to go with them - keep waiting for inspiration but it's sorely lacking so far...

Actually, when I read that post back it sounds as though I am saying poor David as he is "expected" to be out gritting, but I meant that the weather is expected to be cold, he doesn't mind at all, it's his job and he loves the overtime pay.

Afternoon CLP and tout le monde, hope the lack of hot water situation has now been remedied! I had boiler breakdown over the summer (thank goodness not when I needed to have the heating on too) and was very grateful to have boiler cover from my gas and electricity supplier!

I don't normally make Christmas cards but I have done this year. I've used a photo that I took on Christmas Eve last year of the Winter Wonderland in the centre of Edinburgh (in the snow) and used mounts from the "footwear" chemist. I'm only sending these handmade ones to friends abroad, in Sweden, Canada, and NZ as printer ink aint cheap!

    Hi all,

Showers ,Love my shower ,nice power shower and don't do bathing .

Funny isn't it up until last year I would always have to chase our plumber to come and service our boiler .But out of the blue last December he rang us and said your boiler service is due ,you could have knocked me down with a feather .
And yesterday morning at 8-10 AM ,he rang again with the same message ,
wasn't too happy as he woke us as it was my day off.
Now with that ,would you say that we are going through a recession ,or he's just realized to keep what customers he has got happy.

All the talk of christmas cards ,I've written some ,I'm up th the letter J in my file box ,so a few more to go yet ,
Will be doing more a little later on this evening .

Nice to see you Annie ,had missed you the last couple of days.

Dozy ,glad you had a good holibob.

And last of all if you have any of that white stuff floating around you way ,your most welcome to keep it ,I don't mind in the least.
