Moira's Off (But She'll Be Back In A Month)

Chris Evans | 06:38 UK time, Friday, 17 September 2010

Moira - she goes!

Selina Scott, she comes!

It's a fair swap, I have to admit. Like bringing Shearer on for Lineker. Moira goes Stateside, Selina arrives from her goat farm in Yorkshire.

With this latest news about our newsreader, and having spent yesterday making a film for The One Show about The Goodwood Revival - when I was greeted with the surprise when I arrived that I would be taking to the skies in a 1943 North American Harvard aeroplane - the last twenty four hours have turned into another "pinch-me" moment.

In fact over the last few months, I've had so many of these moments, I'm in danger of severe bruising

Roll on the weekend. Have a great one.

Morning CLP a nice early one there!

Pinch me moments - they are great arent they - for me one such moment was when Bingo Star, AliB and me where sat on your sofa in the dressing room at the O2 in December with Sally Traffic getting into her jeans before our very eyes!

oh, yes, what a day and night that was.......

    Happy Friday everyone!

Good morning everyone from a beautiful sunny day here in Ayrshire, only 7 degrees mind you when I got in the car at 7.30 brrrrrr!

Every time we go walking somewhere beautiful and it's silent apart from the birds singing - that's my pinch me moments, and they are frequent.

Sorry to hear your news CSN, thinking of you and your family.

Hope everyone has a good weekend whatever you are doing.

    Morning All,

Happy Birthday Mrs Evans - have a lovely day xx

My pinch me moment is when I am down at my sisters in Sands of Luce walking on the beach no one else around and just the sound of the sea keeping me company - heaven.

Re: signings - I have received a msg from Chris's PA. Sadly no book signings are planned apart from the Cheltenham festival.

Hi Gail - have you recovered from you cycle ride?

Hi Debs - wishing you well with your recovery, just take it easy though. No dancing on the tiles just yet ;o) xx

CSN - sorry to hear your sad news.

    Hope you are all well.

Pinch me moments? Far too many to list over the last 10 months, and all thanks to my FantasticRolastic. However ..... meeting CLP for the first time and then being interviewed on stage at the 02 in December is deffo up there!

Not all pinch me moments are good tho. I immediately think of Tuesday 8th June 2010. One of the saddest days of my life. TTFN my lovely friend x x x

Day at work here off to a BAD start. Electronic doors operated by computers are great, when they work! When they fail and you have tenants yelling at you at 8am telling you how much money they are losing because YOU can't get them into their office ..... get me outta here!

Afternoon off today. Can I ask for good vibes of love and good luck at 3pm today please. I think you can all guess why .....!

Finally, when CLP played Super Trouper this morning would you Adam and Eve it if I told you I was immediately taken back to my majorette days, where that particualr track was our opener to our 3-song display routine. I could still reocunt every single move, every baton throw, every twiddle - all I needed was my baton and green leotard and I'd have been there!

Hi Mary - long time no "see", believe it or not I was fine after the cycle, even though I had done no training whatsoever, but I do ride and walk almost every day.

Watched Strictly which I had sky+sd from the weekend, and I have to say it looks like it's going to be a good one this year, it's one of my favourite programmes.

LOL Maddy, I thought it might have been Chris flying over our house just now, in it, until I re-read the blog.

Morning all, from a chilly, but beautiful Somerset.

My pinch me moment is when I sit up in bed every morning and take in the view from my bedroom window.

I do believe that most of the best things in life are free.

We are enjoying watching hundreds of geese flying past very early in the mornings. Lots of 'honking' beats the alarm clock anyday!!

Actually, I think they have even silenced the pesky cockerel too!

    Wonderful.

    Good Afternoon CLP and blogpeeps

First off - I love Selina Scott, she looks and sounds like a lovely lovely lady. So I look forward to hearing her next week.

Just wanted to mention that I'm off to see the Glasgow Warrior boys tonight, with Max Evans on pitch. But wondered how Thom was doing? No mention at this end so perhaps you could give us an update Chris?

Also Rips, Warriors v Wasps in October, but down your neck of the woods so doubt will manange along!

Happy Birthday Mrs Evans - loved chris's birthday song to you today. Must be lovely to hear your boy telling you he loves you on national radio!

Nice to 'see' you here MWK, shame we won't be meeting up at the Glasgow book signing! And hi to ChrissieS.

Have a good Friday one and all.

    Chris,

At this rate you should have enough to fill book no.3 by this time next year!

Selina Scott sounds interesting - Anna Ford a bit too fierce was she? ;O)

I have some curious thoughts sometimes - for instance, using the first 3 letters of a person's first name and the first 2 letters of their second name gives Chrev, Jonsa and Moist...told you it was curious...
The O2 just before last Christmas would be a pinch me moment - still can't believe I was actually there!

    Right pasty watch.

Took two hours, a labour of love (took your advice CG about slivers rather than chunks). They look fab, the filling is delish and perfickly cooked and the good news is that if a miner had to take one of them down the pit and got bashed about a lot, the "pastry" case would definately be in-tact! They might need a pick axe to get to the filling but boy it is good when you get there!

    Advice anyone???

CLP, I for one will miss Moira’s dulcet tones in the morning, but Selina a game girl and you should have fun with her too. You are a lucky chap and yes – you have the best job for you... and thankfully for all of us...

Oh – pinch myself moments – been a few – one that springs to mind is having a drink with George Best, years ago... he was sober and I was not!!! He was gorgeous and I wasn’t blond!

But, as you all know, it’s my family... I look at my boys every day and although they are not perfect - and it is precisely because of their foibles , that they are the best they can be, good, and balanced young people, that I love them so. I think they’re gorgeous (I would) but it’s their all round loveliness that makes me pinch myself - I mean - how did that happen? And my Mum, my goodness... as time goes on – it is such a privilege to have her – another pinch! I make no apologies for gushing...

And Deevs – you are right not all ‘pinch’ yourself moments are good!

Have a great FNWC... the bar at my place has just opened and TFIF....

It's Southport air show this weekend, so have had all sorts of old aircraft flying over this morning, no Red Arrows though yet! It's a shame it's not a nicer day, as there's a lot of low cloud, and it's threatening to rain. We went a few years ago, and it was the same then. Still it might be nicer on the coast.

    Back from Brizzle.

Third full loaded car, of GDs belongings now up on the 12th floor.

Thankfully, JG, the goods lift is working, albeit by some guy sitting on top of it and winding it manually, not a job I would fancy, no siree!

Then picked the Debster up, just as the A380 airbus was removing her chimney!!

I was shaking so much at how low it was, that an executive decision was made and we hit the pub!

Spent a lovely couple of hours giggling about things, including, upturned wheelchairs, thats a story for another day!

So, headed home, stopping off at ELH, filling my trolley up with the usual GD requirements, only to realise that they weren't needed. Its very weird and will take some getting used to. I now live in a male dominated house, or so they would like to believe!!

On my last stretch home, there was another 'sun dog.. (Seza.x) and then driving down the last hill, on came...

    Very busy Annie.

There was an open day for 30,000 Airbus workers and their families. Bristol was heaving. I had no idea how huge the Airbus was until it passed over Debs house, it was almost like being on the runway!!

As I left Bristol, they were just launching a few hot air balloons for an evening flight. Much more sedate, but not sure if you would get me up there.

A friend of mine was given gift 'balloon flights' as a wedding present and despite turning up several times, still hasn't managed to get off the ground yet, due to unsuitable flying conditions.

    Hello MTF & Annie.

    Enjoy the DVD Annie.

Actually MTF I didn't get to see all the video myself and I was hoping no rude words were going to be said LOL.

It was interrupted by a phone call from the RSPCA and I now feel bad about what I said and posting the link but that was then.

What a weekend I've had. The little stray cat moved into the house a couple of days ago and I've discovered she (I think) is not well. I won't go into detail but there's been a terrible mess and I've been cleaning and disinfecting and the washine machine's been busy.

It got too much for me and I contacted the Cats Protection this morning who said the RSPCA will help if an animal is ill. So they are being very helpful and will call in the morning to collect the little cat, take her to a vet and keep her for rehousing.

What a relief it will be!

  • Comment number 75.

What a busy day. I didn't even get as far as the garden.

After stripping all the beds and grabbing all the bath sheets that I could, the intention was to get the whole lot washed and dried, as it has been a lovely warm, breezy day here.

    That was until....

The washing machine made the most horrendous rattling sound, like it had swallowed pebbles, on a light load that was already washing.

So, washing is stacked up, I have done as much hand washing as I can. Hurrah for keeping hold of that old Creda 'debonair' that was destined for the dump years ago. I simply have never been able to wring washing out.

Also decided to shampoo all the downstairs carpets and the carpet shampooer decided that it going to play up too and spew water out at the rate of knots!

So, all in all, a not so restful Sunday. Going back to work tomorrow for a rest, as you do!

Now cooking a roast for 3 instead of six and am so used to filling the pans with veg, etc, that I have had to roughly work out how many spuds, etc...

    Ooops, somethings burning!!!

PPPS - MTF - my mum had the same issue with portion size when we all left home, cooked for 6 when only 3 were home, it took a while before she remembered she didnt have to cook/ but so much anymore, esp becuase we all took food parcels home whenever we visited!

    Morning all

Just sneaking in while the internal systems are down - can't do any other work at the moment.

I hope that JG is wrong and that this quietness is just a blip. I have a note in that my home interweb is playing up (we are lucky if we get an hour a day....) and it is not possible to get in at work. I am lurking though and look forward to reading you all at lunchtime.

    Hope everybody is well.

Good Morning Baggy, Debs & Mtd.

Not a bad day here in Wirral!

Debs-good luck with the walking, stretching and strengthening.

Baggy-thanks for the song and don't work too hard.

Mtd-I too hope that the quietness on here over the weekend is only temporary.

The good news here is that the RSPCA have just been and the little stray cat will get veterinay treatment and then, all being well, will be rehomed.

    Morning all

Blog dead?!?! Naaaaaaaaaah! Just peeps with busy lives to lead: kids fleeing the nest to go to Uni. little ones going back to school, others making the most of the last of the "decent" autumn weather before Winter kicks in .....

Weekend was nicely busy. I was a bit down in the dumps on Saturday so pretty much stayed away - spent the afternoon doing my tax return and watching football.

Sunday was fab. Didn't really do much per se, but just quality time with my fella - lots of laughing, some good food, some vin rouge and tellybox. Perfick.

Back in the jungle today and I have decided I really, truly hate it here. Don't want to be here. Have no passion for this job. Want out. ASAP.

Boss due from H/O today. Maybe I'll be home ironing by lunchtime ....

Good morning everyone from a showery/cloudy Ayrshire.

Liking the sound of a Scottish walking get together, right up my street!

Had a lovely day on Saturday, drove up to Ardrishaig then cycled along the Crinan Canal to Crinan (funnily enough), stopped on way back at Cairnbaan for drink and cake, then had dinner on way home in George Hotel, Inveraray - perfect!

Hope everyone else had a good weekend.
