Arise Mel And Sue
I could watch Mel and Sue forever on telly. They just have the perfect delivery and were delivering perfectly on our house once again last night, as it was time for The Great British Bake Off episode 2.
This meant the whole of the country had to sit through a full half hour of biscuit making, without reaching for the biscuit tin - or not !
We saw the factory that can make up to ten million biccies a day; we saw antique biccie that Sir Ranulph Fiennes bought at auction for four grand - that was the last ration of Scott of The Antarctic; and we saw the raw mixture for home made biccies. Simply - butter, flour and sugar. You want them crispier - add MORE sugar. You want them softer, like a cookie? Add honey to the mix.
Why the Great British Bake Off doesn't get more viewers than X Factor - is something I will never be able to get my head around.
When the show was over by the way, you could press the red button for Paul Hollywood's scone recipe. I believe you still can - be careful out there.

Chrissie,
Glad the plumber said it was the seal around the bath rather than something more serios. That is quite a common problem especially with the modern baths that "flex" a little.
Baggy,
Just saw your post from yesterday. Don't I count as one of the men then? ;-)
Still trying to catch up with work after the trip. Hope everyone is well.

You're absolutely right Chris there are so many good shows on television. I'm ashamed to say that I did watch the X Factor and didn't watch The Great British Bake Off. I'll change my ways immediately but I am proud to say that I didn't watch Big Brother.
In fact, I think I'll not only watch The Great British Bake Off but I'll go into the kitchen and make some of those biccies like I used to. I remember the school domestic science day when I would proudly walk home carrying that tin of rock buns, etc. My family would eagerly await my latest creation.

Afternoon CLP & ALL...
Bingo Star 'ere... Coming To You From Blennerhasset, NW Cumbria, UK...
CLP - A agree Mel & Sue 'ave immense delivery... so much so even Royal Mail are reduced only to nothing but jealousy!!!!!!!!!
And a know exactly 'ow they feel!!!!!!!!
CLP ave gotta problem, am feeling worried/ concerned about yer welfare CLP, especially what with you being one of the Uk's premier DJ's/ TV Presenters - And am not saying this ter crawl or INDEED in a sickening sycophantic way.... no... ter be frank am speaking me mind 'er as a do woory about you CLP!!!! Ok some say am ouuta me mind... but that's another story & VERY much one a don't wanter go inter now!!!!!!!
What am concerned about the logistical implications of yer gig in a field in Cornwall & then yer getting back ter London... and not getting beck ter London on any old day... no this is Friday... and not any old Friday... but the one before the UK August Bank Holiday..... the time of year when we celebrate the delight of being in about the only part of Europe where yer can go for a day out & get totally soaked in the summer!!!!!!!
But me main worry is 'ow are yer gonna get back ter London!!!!!
Now a know yer a mean of showbizz & the most glamerous & showbizz way is by 'elicopter..... but yerv gotta think of the eco crudentials CLP!!!!!!!
Plus where are yer gonna land a chopper next to The One Show tv studios in central London?????
Then there's the option... be driven!!!!!
But NOT on a August bank 'oliday.... up the A30... believe me yer do NOT wanter be on the A30 at the end of August... then the M5, the M4 around Bristol... and these are not even the worse bits... yerv still got the M25/ M4 area of utter madness & delusion/ illusion that yer will be going faster than anything over 10mph on a motorway!!!!!!!
Ask Sally Boaz & The Bowls if yer don't believe me!!!!!!
Ok so this could be a firm case were a offer you my driving services & one of the rare cases when a get me special flashing blue light that a keep 'idden in me boot & risk all!!!!! (that's me car not me Doc Martins!!!)
When a say risk all a mean... me licence & freedom... don't mean risk crashing as am a very advanced/ experienced driver.... not that am being egotistical... just driving with responsibilty & niceness!!!!!!!!!
But the problem 'ere is 'aving a TOP celebrity in the back of me smoking Rover diesel.... And 'aving flashing blue lights on me roof.... errr flashing.... that shouldn't be there... the last thing a wanter do is attract any attention from the motorway smokies - know what am sayin'!!!!!!!
So my only advice is.... the train wins again CLP... as it does with most things in life... not just career wise (in my case!!!).
My advice CLP.... There's no train from Looe (nearest station ter Talland Bay) until 10.34!!!!!!!
So my advice: getta lift in a car at 09.30 on the dot ter nearby Liskeard station (9.25miles) & then my advice: yer want ter get the 10.15 Intercity Express bound for London Paddington!!!!!!!
My advice: yer can even go first class & ave a meal.... and a kip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Arriving Paddington at 13.44... My advice: you'll be completely stress free & in total safety with still over 5 'ours until The One Show gig kicks off!!!!!!!!!!!
The resutling outcome will be that your delivery will be as sharp as Mel & Kim's and come 19.31 Friday.... Adrain Chiles will be even angrier than this Friday after the better incident!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad ter 'elp CLP.... am glad ter 'elp... that's the kind of person a am!!!!!!!!
Bye!

I haven't posted for a little while because I've had some profoundly sad news. My lovely, big daft eejit friend, Damian, the GBF, has passed away.
I'm not going to go into any details; I shall never do that because that's not for here. But since the said GBF was such a big part of my life, and hence my bringing him to all of you, I think it's right I tell you.
It's true to say I'm searingly shocked and it's no exaggeration to say I'm heartbroken; and yet, in some way, not surprised that this has happened. Damian, as is the way with most natural comedians, not to say talented and gifted artists, had a very dark side which I never revealed here, and nor will I. Ever. On the contrary, I shared with you the many hilarious antics and situations he presented me with, the memories of which I now hold precious. Ours was, above all, a meeting of extremely silly minds with the most staggering appetite for nonsense, and sharing it with each other. Faced with any slightly bizarre sight or situation, in a split second we would barely glance sideways and we were off, in a fit of laughing. I called him Podge; he called me Rodge. Of course, we had our spats; Damian was notoriously unpredictable and so, so bold, he used to simply LOVE winding me up; and being the control freak that I am, it used to work like a charm, sending me into a frenzy, albeit usually mock. I can't count the times we've been seen, at my statuesque 5 ft., himself 6'2", my one hand on the scruff of his neck, the other with his arm up his back, marching him off somewhere to give him a sound thrashing. Metaphorically, of course.. And then again, he often actually used to seriously infuriate me, so much so that at one period during the 10 years I was privileged to be his friend, I actually did withdraw contact until he sorted himself out. But we restored our friendship and all was well.
But if there was anyone who personnified the saying, Live Hard, Die Young, it was Damian. I think I always suspected I might get that terrible phone call one day, one way or another.
So, my lovely friends, tomorrow I'm off over the Irish Sea to attend his funeral. I'm so sad it's hard to breathe.
However. What I do NOT want is to bring the blog 'down', as you would say. On the contrary, I want to say this to you. I KNOW you will be thinking about me, I KNOW you are sending me those lovely, healing 'vibes' you are all so brilliant at sending. And I KNOW you will feel the sadness with me; it goes without saying and I so appreciate it.
And yet, wherever you found Damian, there was so much laughter and fun. And we must all keep this sense of fun and joie de vivre going, life is precious and priceless. So please, if you believe, then say a prayer, if you don't, then take a few seconds to contemplate the gift that is life and laughter. And then KEEP THE LAUGHTER GOING. Sadness is not for here. Goodness knows, our host CLP is laughter and siliness personnified. I shall perhaps not be around for a little while whilst I retreat into my little shell and gather my thoughts; meanwhile there will be an extra star in the sky tonight. Find it and raise a Slainte to it; and then grab life with both hands and cherish it.
This, for me, will pass. And I shall be left with the most priceless gift of some fantastic memories of my lovely friend and soul-mate.
Who, I have to say, if 'e was 'ere now, I'd kill 'im.
See. Nothing a laff can't cure.
RIP Damian yous big daft awful eejit.

I guess I am going to be one of many that answer your blog, but what a privilege it is to have someone who was your soul-mate and always will be. It does get better, we all know that anyway, but there are times when the smallest things bring back the biggest memories. When those times happen it is the biggest thrill of all. He'll be there, dusting down your chair and making sure that it's ready for you whenever you meet up again. Viva soul mates.
He'll be fine, my mum made the best cup of tea ever, and my dad knew the filthiest jokes this side of the equator, they'll make sure he's sorted.

So I say "cheers" to Damien - I am raising my glass to a man who has given us lots of laughs on this blog - albeit - vicariously! Thanks Clodagh... xxx
