ALRIGHT GANG HERE'S THE SCORE...

Chris Evans | 14:22 UK time, Wednesday, 12 November 2008

We know the CIN auction prizes are...

... expensive but that's the idea, to raise as much money as possible.

And here's the thing...

The idea of a fiver a go for a chance place on the beano is indeed a belter but don't think we haven't thought of that. There's a very nice man here called Phil Hughes who has been trying to make something not dissimilar happen for a couple of years.

THE PROBLEM IS THOUGH...

Once it becomes chance or lucky dip, it is classed as a "lottery" and this is not allowed by law. This is the way it is, honestly. We would love to do three or four tables like this as well as one of the cars but it's just not a goer.

Hey ho, never mind. Auctions are fun to be at even if you don't bid. Believe me, I've been to loads.

HELP HELP! Have just knocked a mug of tea with milk over onto a 100% wool rug. I am blotting as I blog!!! And panicking. How do I get the stain out? Please only answer if you are 100% certain!!

  • Comment number 36.

that it will work I mean!!

  • Comment number 37.

inspiration - Straight from Kim and Aggies how clean is your house web page on C4:

K and A's tip for removing tea or coffee stains from a carpet is to mix a teaspoon of washing-up liquid with a cup of warm water and sponge on. Blot, then mix 1 cup of clear vinegar with 2 cups of warm water and dab again, blot away and then dab with clean water. Mind you, that's for a recent spillage when you should blot away all excess liquid first

    Hope that helps
    Quack

  • Comment number 38.

Oh thank you Dookegg. Tho' it's going to smell lovely (milk, vinegar) in front of the open fire, isn't it? But will give it a go. can't blame anyone else neither!

  • Comment number 39.

dont worry inspiration - i may have to replace hall carpet as SOMEONE keeps forgetting to check on the old dog at lunch time and he pee's on the carpet by the front door. Now no matter how hard I scrub it I still get a wiff - and now i associate Vanish with dog wee.

At the end of the day the more money that is raised the better.

If Radio 2 can, through Terry and CLP, get a few thousand quid (or even £100K) from people who may not have contributed but clearly can afford it all the better. It's all for them kids after all..........!

    Nev

PS Cynic that I am do you think a lovely assistant gives Chris a synopsis (too big a word for a Wednesday) of the blog?

  • Comment number 41.

Inspiration what are you doing drinking tea? Well spose it is a bit early.

Have tried heavy blotting but it's got ridges in it, missus! Just applying the washing up liquid solution but hoping not to need the vinegar - that bit makes me nervous!!

  • Comment number 45.

dookegg: it will always smell of pee!

When we moved into our RENTED house we told the landlord that the house smelled of cat pee in every room and the carpets would need replaced.

She came back to say: over my dead body.
So, we replaced them - it was just impossible to live with!

    C xx

P.S. I love cats, just not their pee!

Just had a funny feeling the envelopes got delivered to big boss's hoose - and as he's away then invites will have to wait. which is a shame as the RSVP is the 24th and boss returns on 17th - give a few days for the postal system and - ooops! May need to find the key holder.

Chrissie...have to say that I'm impressed that the cats oop your way drink tea with their milk...

Dear inspiration, Vanish (I'm sure other malarkey carpet based cleaners are available, but with a Badger about, this is what I use) spray foam is the best imo. You can use it up to a couple of days after the ahem, 'spillage', too. Good luck and don't rub too hard!!!

Beesmum and all, I`m well. Looking forward to the CIN auction. I went to an aucton once and bid for a HMV 102 portable wind up gramaphone player, I bid the most and got my gramaphone. Then I went around junk shops and boot fairs looking for 78 records to play on it. It plays Glen Miller nicely! I`ve yet to take it on a 1930"s theme picnic.

Oh, CLP - PAX. Enough said.

martin - good to see you x

  • Comment number 58.

How about a reverse auction next time, the person with the lowest unique bid wins and you pay a fiver to enter and then cough up your bid.

So in effect you could win by bidding a penny and end up shelling out £5.01.

If say 20% of listeners entered would that exceed what you'd make from the highest bid?

  • Comment number 59.

Righty O! I'm Offski - hope the rug is OK.

Freeebeeee Tea tonight ((((ggggg)))))- Mince and Tatties - our beast and broke potatoes

    ps - tatties don't need fixing - they aren't up to supermarket standard so are sold off incredibly cheaply as stock feed. ;-}

    Evening everybodypeeps.

Q for Chris - What was it Tash said to you to change your view of your relationship? I remember the girl on the sofa, just friends, seems perfect but really only friends, oh she wants to speak to me show you had several years ago, then next I knew you were all married up!

    1st gig - Guns N Roses, Wembley Stad, 198??

best gig - Err, could be Rush, Beck, Muse or Prince. Not sure

Embarrassing gig - Steps. Yup really.

Tatts - got 2, one leopard print effect over shoulder, other black and white pegasus on my lower back. Not allowed visible tatts at work, but would like more.

Cat/Dog wee - don't use household cleaners as they contain ammonia and make the animal think another animal has been in and covered their scent, so they rescent it.

And finally - may be about to lose all the fish in my big tank as some muppet has unplugged the heater and the temperature is currently around 3 degrees C. They don't look well!

He loves the blog I know this fact.
If the boy could do a rafflle type thing he would no doubt about it.
But are we all not living in comfort with all that goes with it ,the effort that Christoff and the whole team are contributing is nowt short of marvellous.
Terry Wogan is another diamond ,using his profile to great effect and has done for many years.

Boring Boring , sorry but ,we on ths blog are ok,are we, and the big bucks are raised by the thousands of smaller donations no the few large ones.

I know we will all pledge what we can. xxx.
