NEVER BEFORE BUT DEFINITELY AGAIN.

Chris Evans | 15:30 UK time, Thursday, 20 December 2007

Arrived home from the show last night and went straight...

.... to bed and stayed there until a quarter to two this afternoon. It was the only way I stood any chance of being able to speak on the radio tonight and then go on to the team do. There was talk of the do being cancelled if I didn't go, silly I know but the team are such a team that they probably would do exactly that. I did remonstrate it had all been paid for in advance and that they wouldn't be able to reschedule but still hey seemed determined. So, be there I will, if it's the last thing I do - which it might.

Here's the mad thing about this week.... I have spent three days alcohol free, fag free - only consuming things that are super good for a person and eventhough I still feel like crap, in a way, I've never felt better. My skin is smooth and moist, there are even signs of some youthfull elasticity returning last seen pre TFI FRIDAY. I can see more clearly, my mind is sharper, I even feel a little more me. Maybe this illness thing is no bad thing at the right time.

I also haven't said a word to anyone for sixteen hours. Much communication has taken place but either by note, text or charades. It all seemed to be so much more efficient - perhaps this is the way forward.

So roll on five o'clock and let's hope I have what it takes to do the bizz. And then roll on the do... a wine tasting followed by dinner and then a q and a session which should turn me swiftly back to the fuzzy headed, bleary eyed, dry skinned chancer that rolls the right way with all the punches and thanks heaven for his luck every single day.

Let the story unfold.

If I may offer advise, I had the bug last week, burning eyes, aches , sweats ,a throat full of razor blades and a strangley swollen uvula ( spell!). 2 days in bed didnt help so stuggled back to work on wednesday where my saviour, the chef here at work, made me a flask of hot water, fresh ginger, local honey and fresh lemon juice. I drank about 3 pints of it and it was magical. Throat gone, aches gone and a bounce back in my step.

    Now I've got it.

Man-flu, that is. Just in time for Christmas.

I'm going to have satsumas on toast with an orange omlette, washed down with an Echinacea shake for tea tonight, then, a hot lavender bath and as much bloomin' sleep as I can get (not much, knowing my track record).

I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish Chris and the team, and everyone here, a wonderful Christmas.

I hope all your dreams come true.

    Peace & love

Season's Greetings Ter CLP & ALL Blog Operatatives,

    Bingo Star ere.

Em M - Is it your Birthdee? If so may I wish you "A BEAUTIFUL BIRTHDEE IN ALL AREAS"!!!!!! & "A 'APPY ONE TOO"!!!!!!!!

Tinsel - I wasn't offended at all but very big thank you for you concern Tinsel.
I knew it was in light 'earted meanings & besides being called a woman is a compliment - Sometimes I wish i'd been born a woman (not that am 'aving tv thoughts, 'appy being a man) - But it would mean i'd 'ave more friends, not accussed of being gay if yer 'ug yer friends, errrr it would mean i'd like shopping more, could get boots footspray without strange looks, would mean i'm.... beautiful, errrr could use the womens only gym without all the male idiots 'ogging the weights & tryin' ter lift 'eavier weights than you just ter prove a point, errrrr can't think of anymore... oh I yeah.... and could get cheaper car insurance on me car - so no offence at all Tinsel!!!!!

On a serious note it is a hard lonely life being a man, why do you think the suicide rate is far 'igher amongst young men nowadays.

PS Back ter light 'earted - I've got a Sven message that involves yersen - it comes with friendship & love..... at Christmas time!!!!!!!!!

Prof Plum - Did you 'ave yer Christmas gobsmackers played to?
I think CLP doesn't like me anymore. Must be me Aries astro touched a few raw nerves. Like 'e's touchin' a few raw ones of mine by not playing me crackers.... mind you probally they get 'undreds of requests coming in though.
While were on the above subject of gender errrrr are you a man or a woman Prof????
I've been calling you Prof man for ages!!!!!
I always thought you were a man but I don't know anymore if i'm coming or going!!!!!
No offence of course but Cathmel says your a woman (commentation #6)..... I ain't know, I AIN'T know???????

Sammie - Your new 'ot date is cancer but yer say 'e doesn't float yer boat.... yet!
Look Sammie take yer time.... for now think that yer boat is in the dry dock 'aving a new paint job & MOT ter make yer boat ready ter float in the spring..... 'ence why 'e doesn't make float yet.
Pisces & Cancer - your right a very good match. Get ter know 'im more & it could be that both being water signs yer could end up floating outta the dry dock.... in the 'armony of love..... tergether!!!!!! Give it time Sammie!

CLP - 'ope me aries astro didn't offend in any way - it came in 'onesty & friendship!!!!!

    Chow!

PS Another festive message Sven style :

I like the fact that tinsel isn't just a sparkling decoration at Christmas...... but Tinsel is a fellow blog operatative friend all year round!!!!!

I LIKE IT...... VERY MUCH...... I LIKE IT!!!!!!

    Good morning!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY EM M!!!

Last day at work for me too, until 7th - yippee!

Got home last night and saw the mince pies my daughter had made - oh dear is all I can say - bless, she tried - so I knocked out 3 dozen, gave some to my neighbour and brought the rest into work.

No-one's touched them yet - are they politely waiting for me to have one? OR do they look inedible? Ah well - here goes, I'm jumping in...

Have a great day one and all,

P.S. MfR - loved the wise words - hope you're feeling better soon.

Bingo - so right - thank you :-)

I have been told to leave work at 2.30 - yippee! Need to buy something to wear tonight - off out for a curry with a friend. He and I always have a really good laugh - so looking forward to it lots!

I'm still playing Christmas music and happily - the folks in my office are singing along!

Just had to pop out to get lunch (and have a quick squizz for something to wear) and am astounded at how rude people are! It's supposed to be the season of goodwill; I patiently waited for someone to pull out of their parking space, so I could take it, when a woman (yes, I took a good look at her, so I could bash her with my basket) drove in front of me and took the space! Then, as I needed cash for tonight, I waited patiently for an ATM, only to have someone push in front of me, as I was making way for the lady using it to manoevre her trolley out of the way! Soooo rude!!!

I took a deep breath - threw a filthy look (and believe me it's awful) and reminded myself that it's a wonderful time of year!!!

Righty ho (ho ho) - best finish off my stuff so I can get off early!

    S xx.

Bingo, Prof Plum was a blog name I chose because I love the game Cleudo. Not a real Prof or indeed a man. Which means I now need to reinvent myself.........
It was rather embarrassing when the nice lady from the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ phoned to ask about my choice of gobsmackers and asked who Prof Plum was!!!

I said "Don't ask me, must be a mad woman".

    Prof signing off.
