YOU NEVER KNOW, YOU JUST NEVER KNOW.

Chris Evans | 15:32 UK time, Wednesday, 21 November 2007

Either way you never know.

I had a quiet chuckle to myself this afternoon whilst driving into the big Old Smoke.

There was Rupert Murdoch buying up the world, all avenues of information and communication and therefore all channels of power, propaganda and persuasion, not to mention making a zillion dollars whilst he was at it and then along come the Gogle boys and all the other "net" dudes who could buy and sell him twenty times over in just one heartbeat.

Like I say you never know, either way, you never know.

P.S Did anyone go and see The Counterfeiters ? If no, I am going to stop recommending films.

P.P.S. Have you seen Control, the Joy Division film, it's f. g.x

p.p.p.s. The Newbridge on Usk is indeed something I am involved in. I met two cracking lads when I was at the Celtic Manor, they wanted to go on their own, so I said, "Well I've been a customer of yours, and a very happy one at that, for several years, let's give it a go." Now we're in and ready to go as from this weekend, nothing fancy at first, we're feeling our way in and around, always the best way - mange toute.

Nope, haven't seen The Counterfeiters yet.

Or Into The Wild, the film of a bloomin' good book I read a few years back.

It is interesting how much money people can make in such short periods of time and I take my hat of to them all.

    Well, the legal ones, anyway.

But, it is more fascinating how people manage to lose vast sums in equally short periods.

I mean, how did the likes of MC Hammer have so much and end up with so little?

    Spend, spend, spend, I guess.

You'd have thought that a couple of mill, looked after properly, would keep you pretty much sorted.

But, I suppose that some people get a taste for Champagne and just can't go back to the beer.

And then the Champagne runs out.

    Peace & love

Haven't see the above films. I am biased towards going to my favourite cinema The Rex in Berkhamsted, which is an old art deco cinema with a semi-converted downstairs section, which has a bar. Anyone in the area must go - and no, I am not paid to say that! It was my childhood cinema long ago before it was shut and then semi-converted and re-opened a couple of decades later, so it is a sentimental attachment! I go there for the foreign films they show and great re-releases like Leon. I tend to see the new releases when they come out on DVD unless they are really worth seeing on a big screen. Last new release I saw was Bourne Ultimatum.

Any ideas for a suitable gift for the boys? what about a posing pouch to show off their new found physique?

Delighted to hear you're involved in the Newbridge on Usk, one of my favourite places! Don't get there so often now I'm a Mum, but when I do I love sitting at a table looking out at the bridge - especially when the sun's shining.
I love the Usk valley, it's a great place to live. Hope you enjoy it too.

Forget all the other suggestions that you received on your show, you are the perfect Parky replacement and could bring a whole new approach to chat shows ( and even keep his theme tune ).

Maybe the Parky interview was a clever test of the nations opinion and this is the plan !!

He could even be your first guest !

    What do you think ?

SoosiQ - I have been to the rex - great cinema but you have to buy your tickets way in adavnce (something no one told us about and we turned up on the night - all those who don't have tickets get put in a hat and its random selection) and there is no parking (which is important if you come from High Wycombe!)

But other then that, great cinema, I also recommend it!

    Guten Tag

Never been much of a cinema fan. In my old town, it was known as the Flee Pit. For reasons I never really understood. It was more a place to go dating and snogging on the back row.
The film was immaterial. Then half time lights up and the icecream ladies donned the isles. Choc ices were all they every seemed to have. None of your fancy stuff like today.

    Eeh by gum.

    Hiya,
Going to see The Counterfeiters on your recommendation tonight so it had better be good or I won't be taking any film advice form you in future!
Control.....oh my word....I'm a mahoosive Joy Division fan (check out where they got their name from - the best name for a band EVER as most band names are just rubbish).
I laughed, cried, got a bit scared and a bit narked but never bored. Up close and personal - my favourite type of film. I swear I could smell the cigarettes he smoked and the beer and leather at those gigs.
What really made me laugh was the line from the bespectacled manager of the band when he entered their dressing room before a big gig - "Who opened the ham?" I didn't get it for ages.........it referes to bottm burps!
The film made me wonder how difficult it must be for an actor to play the life of a real person. I know that I'd want Julie Waters. I wonder who you'd have play you in a film of your life Chris.......Dx

Visited the newbridge on Saturday with the family for our now annual Christmas bash with the family (My folks live local and my family fly in from Wiltshire with my brothers family coming in from Muswell Hill.. We were delighted to hear that you have bought into the place and that you share our passion for the idyllic location and the great food. One small disappointment was the very limited menu caused no doubt by your transitional arrangements. Once the initial shock was dealt with the food and service were impeccable as ever. Perhaps you could update the website to tip off customers that the menu is limited at this time...looking forward to the Newbridge getting back to its old self.

    Kind Regards
