    Greetings!

Ah, Chris, it sounds like the "jobs-worths" of a big organisation are starting to wield their power like an axe. You were never a big company man unless that big company recognises that big successful companies are made up of a cooperative of little companies. You, Big Tel, Jeremy Vine, etc, all represent little companies under the big ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ umbrella. Admitedly the whole is greater than the sum of the parts but, without the parts, the whole is never going add up to much.

WARNING TO BIG BROTHER CORPORATION - let the little companies do their thing and you will reap the rewards!

Have a great weekend one and all!

    Oh Christophe

Kicking the Beeb is a pass-time for certain motormouths. The ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ this and the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ that.
Certain people ALWAYS pop up to have a pop, for commercial or political reasons. As far as Radio-2 goes, I think the listening figures speak for themselves. If other non-³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ sectors provided what people wanted, THEY would have audience.
I, for one, don't want to hear the same adverts twice per half hour, songs chopped after 90 seconds etc etc etc. Sometimes though, to give them their due, local radio is good for local traffic reports (no disrespect intended to Sally and her colleagues). The time a few years back when Scotland had a major snow fall with half the country at a standstill for three days springs to mind; local radio was superb for which schools were open / closed etc etc. But some of the 'whiners' forget they are where they are and have what they do (in terms of technlogy) because of the Beeb and their research and development which mostly goes unmentioned but ends up being shared. Teletext, for instance, if I remember was a '³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Engineering' invention which others then built on. Was RDS as well ? Maybe I've giving credit there where it aint due. The ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ website(s) I think have been long copied and changed for different markets then people moan that the Beeb is muscling in and forcing them out of the market. The blah blah blah / snipe snipe snipes. Look at the furore over the screening of the Springer "Opera" (which I taped and believe it or not still haven't watched).

But it's nice to see, for a change, two other large broadcasters / carriers slugging it out in the National press today over contract negotiations. Ha Ha Ha.

Referring for a moment back to yesterday's blog which alluded to age etc, was I the only one who if he hadn't shaved his "hair" back to a 0.5 again today would have sprouted a few more grey hairs hearing Steve Wright announce that Howard Jones is 52 today. Oh flip..........

Chris, the pervasive bitching (etc) is a sad indication of the society we live in and the press we have. I've often thought and said we get the newspapers etc we deserve. Leading on from that, I also want to record my dismay at a photo and story of yourself and Ms P. in a certain publication yesterday (maybe it was in more than one, it was in the one I got at the gym) which passes as "news" which to my mind is a gross invasion of privacy. I don't think I'm being prissy about it. They might argue because you were in a public place you were fair game. I, for one disagree and think it is unacceptable for such a "story" to be written, whether true or speculation on their part as to the background and what did or not transpire. But it passes as "news" because the multitude don't demand any better. Goodness, it's A.R.F and I'm in danger of descending in to a rant so I'll "shut it".

Meeting my pal at Queen St Station 2night at 7.20 (that's when his choo-choo gets in) and we are going on the razzle. For one reason or another (eg he was a grandad again), not seen him since Sept so it will be a blast. Must remember a poke of chips at half-time "No vinegar, just heaps of salt doll, I take food with my salt. Yea yea, I know, it gives you......." (In Edinburgh, as a by-the-by, it's "Salt and sauce?" you get asked)

Oh, b4 I forget Susan S #77 on yesterday's write-up but actually today at 11.46 : Glad I gave you a laugh (whether it was being trapped by the mourners, my clothes sharing my food or my pratfall in to the street)

    Good weekend one and all.

OH !!!! (Again). A wide-eyed one this time. I've just received an email from TicketMaster (other booking agencies are available I assume) thanking me for my Weekend booking for T-In-The-Park (other festivals available at diff times) at a cost of £310. Ehm......... I haven't booked T/I/P.

Susan S. #23 : Thank you for invite for Scottish munchies (etc). Regret that I won't be in Glasgow that day. Hoping to be on hols 2weeks from then in which case I might have managed. If those attending like Chinese (etc), can I suggest the Chinese Buffet King in West Nile St (go up from Borders Book shop towards Central Station past (I think) TGI Fridays and it is the first turning on the right and the place is in the first 'block') I had never heard of it until my now ex introduced me to it. It is fab. It has a lot of gorgeous Salad stuff too (Ham, Turkey etc plus attendant frills). Or at least it did when I was there this time last year. So much so that it was commented "I can't BELIEVE you have come in to a Chinese Buffet place and stapped your plate with salad stuff". A side-plate with Chips and Curry sauce apparently didn't count. Wonder if the 'Scottish wizards' will be out in force to stop you.

Talking of Central Station, just wanted to mention the train that got derailed on its way from London to Glas Central. Must have been horrible for those on board (and can't have been nice for the Emergency Services etc either. We tend to forget that those who go to help are flesh and blood too and have to suppress their feelings and get on with it, albeit they've prob seen it all and are well cauterised)

    Can't imagine you'd need to book midweek;
just turn up. Cich to get to; stand at Borders Book shop with back to George Square, walk up towards Central Station past (I think) TGI Fridays on right. It's the first right and then the CBK is on the 1st block on the right. Watch out for the wee wee squares of Appel Strudel (if they have them on). I put about 8 or 9 or a side plate when I went up for starters because they'd just put them out so (a) they were steaming hot and (b) I wanted to make sure I got some.

If I remember right the cinema is way up the road from there but I can't be sure as I always take a convoluted route to get to the cinema on the odd occasion I go.

Only plans so far are Costa-Del-Glas for the hols. Just using up time due. Use it or lose it. To be done by Apr 30th. Then again, I finally came across my driving license and passport yesterday after much hunting off and on over the months. Suddenly realised, without even thinking about it, over a cup of tea (as u do) where I had put them after I had to take them with me to Strathclyde Police nearly 2yrs ago - to be copied at an interview I hasten to add. As it happens, a pal mentioned today he'd never been to Berlin (I forget now even why that came up) so maybe a long weekend there could be on the cards.

Me, I went to a girlfriends for dinner Fri eve. Started with the big annual spring clean on Sat, spent the whole eve with cats on sofa, watching Rosemary and Thyme. Sometimes you just need a little 'erb...and then yesterday drank far more than was good for me...all in all not a bad package really!

...and then how good was it today waking up to Mr Walker! We still love him xx

Jillygoat - BIG CONGRATULATIONS! You win 50p.

Dear Q. I am not Scottish. I detest cake either with nuts or peel in. I have no wish to ever play the bagpipes, but, I have seen the Loch Ness Monster. There.

Steeeeeeeeevie fae D&G, GORGEOUS to see you back!

    Mornin' all

Thank you for your congrats on my winning the Friday blog sweepstake. It was so unexpected. I really didn't expect to win and as such don't have a speech prepared but I'd like to thank my parents for giving me life, to 'im indoors for his unfailing support and cups of tea - both unprompted - and to all my fellow bloggers for their willingness to share their highs and lows, their laughter and their tears, for always being there, sniff .. sniff .. Oi Gwyneth, lend us your hanky love!!

Had a quietish weekend shopping, tidying, and generally pottering about the house. Watched too much TV, ate too much food and drank too much vino - bliss!

    Have a good week everyone!

    jillygoat xx
