SWING (S)LOW SWEET CHARIOT...
Morning, morning, well here I am sat in the WYE - FI lobby of the BIG OLD HOTEL COMPLEX. The buzz ever growing.
Friday is the day everyone starts arriving for the weekend's festivities, it promises to be a hoot, if you're around, do come down, it's a great atmosphere and the third most attended golf event in Europe, how's that !
Those of us who have played in this event before know how exciting it's going to be, those who have not, are walking around with a mixed look of fear, anticipation, nervousness and dread.
The questions most frequently asked by the rookies:-
"How good is everyone ? Do they show your bad shots ? Is it all live ? Does it really matter if we win ?
Answers... not very, but some are...yes they do... yes it is...too damn right.
PATRICK DUFFY (TEAM USA) is already here, one of the nicest men one could ever wish to meet, I may ask him to do a guest blog ! ROSS KEMP'S here, a man much misunderstood, nice, kind, intelligent. ANT AND DEC, two absolute gents and nowadays the governors, are here. Are they as likeable as they come across ? Even more so, honest !
MEAT LOAF'S on his way, so too is ALICE COOPER (the best golfer in the tournament)... , JIMMY NESBITT will be here by lunchtime, he'll definitely blog. In fact this weekend the blog will be in full flow, "LIVE FROM THE ALL STAR CUP, CELTIC MANOR, WALES !"
Today's a practice day, a get to know everyone day, MONTY our captain will give us our first team talk tonight. He's the best, so different to how he's pictured by the press, excellent company with a wicked sense of humour, along with a very keen interest in the female species. You have no idea how attractive world class sportsmen are when you are in their presence, they are like gods and MONTY often finds himself surrounded by many an angel.
IAN WRIGHT is in the team again this year, as is the unbearably handsome DAMIEN LEWIS, JODY KIDD (one of the most elegant golf swings you'll ever see) is our jewel in the crown... RHUUUUUUUD GULLIT, is our big hitter and lovely little RONAN KEATING is our lucky IRISH secret weapon. Oh and did I mention the one and only BRUCE FORSYTH, the GOLF FATHER, BRUCIE is out of retirement and back swinging for EUROPE, another guest blogger I feel. TUFFERS is our twelfth man but of course the skipper when it comes to the nineteenth hole. It's all set up to be a blast.
So, I'm a little golfed out today, not a bad thing, I'm off to the gym for a stretch and a sauna, it's good to the let the next two days slip by and save yourself for the real deal on SUNDAY and MONDAY.
Hope your FRIDAY is as exciting as usual and remember, DO IT, don't talk about DOING IT, it'll soon be TUESDAY and this bonus bank holiday will be over, lets go babies.

Sadly, I will be out "doing it" with a friend who's coming over from the States so probably won't be sitting in much to watch TV. (I used to live in Cardiff and that hotel was such a huge feature as I drove down the M4 after a weekend in London!)
It's great to hear that a famous person like yourself can be as starstruck as the rest of us!

Good grief, it sounds like you are walking around some animatronic version of Madame Tussauds. Actually, given you are outside London, I assume it not Madame herself who has carved the golf-club swinging marionettes but one of her many, less talented offspring. Louis Tussaud, perhaps, or even the less well known second-cousin Fallon. He was locked up for several years after claiming he could carve replicates of the entire royal family out of ear-wax, replace their real-life counterparts with his models and no-one would notice the difference. His plot was uncovered one day when he was spotted running down a crowded Pall Mall with a small spatula and a plastic bag full of yellow gunge. Several people were treated for ear injuries.
Your trail for the Rolling Stones concert recording to be broadcast on Bank Holiday Monday, has just been qualified by Ken Bruce. He said it is of tonight's Glasgow concert.
Enjoy, but could you do me a favour, please. Ronnie Wood last tour, and this one, has started to use a solid body six string electric guitar, that is shaped like a sitar, and makes a sitar like sound. It's a very good substitute for the real sitar used on some early recordings. What's the make and model of this "sitar-guitar" please?. This has been bugging me since the last tour.
It doesn't appear to be currently available, and as plebs we cannot get a camera into concerts, to get picture to enlarge in order to see the name on the headstock.

Hi Peaches. Big wet mwahhhh''s - but from a distance. Unfortunately darling, I'm in receipt of the most atrocious bout of influenza so do stand clear. Any which way you squint at it, a cold sore is herpes and I wouldn't inflict that on anyone - unless forced to in a court of law.
It's jolly kind of you to ask me to go down but unfortunately I have been advised to stay in doors for a couple of days - not only am I infested with blisters, sniffles and a temperature equivalent to the inner most core of Krakatoa, but my throat feels like it's been cut with a rusty sabre. So I must decline your kind offer to visit.
I know it must be dreadful for you surrounded by all those celebrities, flaunting their bleached teeth, acrylic nails and split ends - talking of which, how is dear Jane? Do give her my regards - is she still advertising cheap perfume and modelling catalogue clothing or is she working now? Patrick darling Patrick. When wearing a stetson - a god amongst men; when wet a saviour to all woman kind. If he agrees to put finger to board do ask him to type in a Texan accent - just for me.

Of course you remember Lucrecia Mainwaring Ffjord that dreadful woman I told you about with the incontinent dog and the sceptic toe? Well goodness me, if I didn't bump into her at the WI. My dear, you wouldn't believe what she was wearing and calling Westwood! I had to adjust my pearl necklace and pretend I was having a flush to stop myself from laughing out loud. But then the laughing stopped replaced by sheer amazement, when she introduced me to her eldest son Crispin, who has returned from the Continent a changed man - suffice to say his dress sense is far superior to his mothers but he has developed a liking for show tunes and speed walking -Will the House appreciate this, I ask myself?

You have whipped me up into a frenzy!
Desperately want to be at the golf, and I'm not really a big golf person either so can't believe I am saying this. Sadly it is a case of so near, yet so far. My hubby and I bought a house in Newport to do up, and have spent heavens knows how many hours over the past month zipping down the M4 from Bristol to strip, paint, build, paint, swear, paint...you get the picture! This is weekend is the 'light at the end of the tunnel', but we won't be finished in time to travel the 3 miles up the road to the Celtic Manor to cheer you on.
Will be taking the TV and will lug it from room to room so I don't miss a second.
So, C'MON CHRIS!!!! (I stood up and shouted that loudly!)

I recently stayed in a Hotel in Cardiff and I was also thinking that those little Kettles are cute, you can get 2 cups out of them which is all you need!

A wise man once said that golf is 90% mental and 10% mental. Unfortunately the truth to that statement is not all that off- kilter. This is why one must always keep in mind that what they are attempting to achieve is a golf swing rather than a golf 鈥渉it鈥. The mentality of 鈥渉itting鈥 the golf ball is one which creates a number of problems for even the best golfers. If you think about it, golf isn鈥檛 a hitting sport at all. Baseball is a good example of a hitting sport due to the fact that the player at bat has no idea whether the pitcher is going to throw a sinker, fastball, curveball, knuckleball, etc., this indecisiveness makes contact with the baseball desirable and acceptable. In golf that little ball sits and smiles at you; there is no guessing as to where the ball is coming from. Because of this fact the idea of contact with the ball alone is not acceptable; it鈥檚 where the ball ends up. In order to achieve this goal one must be in a frame of mind that they are merely swinging the golf club through the impact zone to a full finish. When performed properly it will result in a nicely struck golf ball. Let the equipment do its job, the golf clubs that we use have been designed to create the lift needed for the ball to become airborne, all we have to do is SWING.

Just back to the smoke from my Dorset supercamp and feeling back to one with nature. My son has just reminded me that I cannot go up for the papers in my PJ's! (It's difficult adjusting back to normal life). It would be OK if everybody did it. Especially on a Sunday.......
Sounds like your having a super time. I'm not up on golf I'm afraid. I was told by my ex (a keen golfer) that GOLF is an acronym of Gentleman Only, Ladies Forbidden. That was after he let me have one swing of his bat at his local club when we first met and his coach told me I was a natural!
Off to a John Otway gig in Aylesbury today for a friends 40th so won't be watching but I'll do my magic before I go and wish you and the team all the best for today. Remember to visualise that massive golf ball going into that massive hole and repeat 18 times. Don't EVER see it missing. It's powerful stuff.

What can I say...settling down to an afternoon of ironing, turn on TV to watch the golf only to see Chris Evans hit a golf ball straight at my friend Stuart! What's all that about Evans, call yourself a golfer. Then to top it all Meatloaf decides to firemans lift the poor bloke and roll him down a green! Mind you it made great telly and I haven't seen Stuart for ages, thanks for that.
