Sub Focus ft Coco

See now THIS is the kind of thing I was after from Pendulum the other day. Thick, sludgy drum'n'bass with a creamy, rocking chorus and a sparkling, colourful pop sheen on the top. A sonic trifle, in other words.

'Splash' hits hard and heavy with the same doomy, apocalyptic sense of oncoming badness. Coco pretending to be a lone voice howling against an oncoming storm perfectly, and, y'know... it's a lot more pleasant on the ear. And not as annoying. Or repetitive.

(, which has some strobe effects.)

The effect on Coco's voice, which in its dry, untreated state on 'Caesar', sounded a smidge too much like her dad in his Policely prime, now sounds like a banshee in a huff in a cavern. A banshee with quite a ripe accent at times, but none the worse for that. Or like Perry Farrell out of Jane's Addiction (ask your alt rock uncle, the one with the 'soul-patch' under his bottom lip) expanding his already-fairly-broad musical horizons in order to impress his kids.

Meanwhile, Sub Focus just keeps leaning hard on the button marked "Sounds Which Can Make People Explode", in between bashing his synth with his forehead and cranking the volume knob so hard some of his heaviest books have fallen off a nearby shelf.

Multitasking has never sounded so terrifying.

"The stunning contrast between her rough delivery and the slick techno groove and powerful guitar riffs of 'Splash' is stunning."

Absolute storm of a tune. Completely love it! Been on the radio a lot recently and it deserves to be! His debut album should be a beauty if he ever gets on with it and releases it (I seem to remember Zane saying he was taking his time).

My friends saw Coco Sumner supporting La Roux and she was apparently much better than La Roux. No surprises there from me. So looking forward to some stuff from her. Heard her debut and it sounded a lot like Marina, in a good way.

I'm sure I'm repeating myself here though.. probably wrote this on Jedward when it got a 30 second review from Randy/Harry there..
