As a fellow BSB fanatic of the past, weren't Take That gone by the time BSB were big news? I was a fan of BSB from 1995, but they didn't really start getting real chart success until after 1996 when take that split up.... so therefore you can't really compare them because they never competed in charts at the same time

I loved Take that too, and liked the comeback album, but not so keen on this album really. no comment on this song as i've not heard it...

And Bah! Kevin was clearly always the best backstreet boy, closely followed by AJ..

Yeah, you are basically right. There was only a tiny bit of crossover I think, but you see, even when TT split up it didn't stop the next few years being dominated by them! (NOTE: I am from a very small town, so maybe this only was the case in my school...)

And it was around that time when everyone was still obsessed with Take That that BSB came out and everyone was like "oooh, which one do you like now?"

And this was when I first really discovered pop music, so it kind of felt like I had to choose between them. Does that make sense? Probably not.

Anyway, we are not even addressing the real issue here: I can't believe you used to like Kevin. My brain cannot compute this.

Oh Vicki.... good review.... and you have inspired me to write my ten fave Take That singles in no particular order... but I must stress that Patience is a classic song, and was an excellent choice for their comeback !

Yeah, anyway, I think you're a bit harsh on this song. Yeah, it's not greatest day, but the beginning is lovely and there's this thing in the background all the way through that really reminds me of Sia's Breathe Me. Not very original though, and I like my Take That all big and poofy and extravagant:

Sorry, Fluffy, but didn't Big leave Big ,Poofy and Exravagant back in Summer 2006 for a solo career ?
I remember his first single "Big is Beautiful " in 2007, that radio 1 refused to play because of the risque lyrics and the video was banned because of that scene with the hot air balloon.
The single failed to chart !
He had a reality show for a short time on MTV called "BIG and proud " but that was shelved after only two shows !
Last I heard , Big was living with a radio 1 employee who does a chart blog, somewhere in Kent , and Big is earning money cleaning this guys moat and doing his laundry !

As a BSB fan you should know that they never actually did break up they just went from 5 to 4, why would they call an album Chapter one, god it's annoying when peeps say they've broken up, they just went solo for a bit like fergie and the Black eyed peas etc etc.

Take that are excellent tho, Gary Barlow is a lyrical Genius!!

I saw a programme on TV the other night about boy bands, and whilst talking about how the modern era of them began with NKOTB (thank you), they played a couple of clips in the background. As for it being another 'Greatest Day' - errrrm!

Don't wish to disappoint any Take That fans out there.. but Said it all will not be going to NUMBER 1 !

Sorry... there are loads of reasons for this..

1) The download has failed to make the top 30 after 2 weeks... the c.d is physically released today.. which will propel it into the chart next Sunday , but not at number 1.

2) The album " The Circus " has sold 2 million copies, and as "Said it all " is on there, most of their fans already have it .

3)Pixie Lott was a new entry at Number one, and is getting blanket t.v and radio coverage and will be very, very strong again.

As will David Guetta and Kelly Rowland which gets a physical release today.

4) As for the merits of the Take That song, it's good but not Take That super great... Vicki's review is close in essence to it's commercial worth....

Now Greatest Day sounded like a Number one as soon as I heard it.....

Meaning more of a 'when it gets to number one we'll see how some reviewers don't know what they're talking about'

I got bored listening to this song and wished I was listening to Greatest day. You're completely right Vicki, its rubbish. I think they just needed another ballardy inspiration track to fill the album and this fitted the bill. How it made it to release, I have no idea.

It wont make number 1 and hopefully it wont even make the top 5.

(Btw anybody else completely surprised by that Mama Do song being number 1? Ive been living in a university bubble for a few weeks but I had no idea it was gonna be that big. Mainly because its completely average..)

Regarding Pixie Lott , she has had a management and record deal since she was 14, and her mentors have been biding their time for the right moment to propel her into the limelight with the right product.
I had heard whispers of her potential for the last 6 months.. but didn't know when she would fully emerge.
Back on the Little Boots blog, comment 10 when we were discussing the amount of female singers, and I mentioned Pixie as being on the radar for greatness.
The single has been expertly marketed and promoted and even before release was near the top of every radio and t.v airplay chart !
Is it any good ?, Well it has huge commercial appeal, loads of hooks , she looks great, and she can certainly sing, all the factors are there, I suppose it is up to personal taste whether people like it or not. It does have a killer chorus, which always helps...

Pixie will release a new single in August and her debut album "Turn it up " is out in September.

MUCH better with the sound off. She is stunning. Just thing the songs a bit poo. Ah well. Potential here. I just think its such a saturated market.

Studies all over, travelling for a month as of Thursday, so will be back for good end of July. Cheers for the well wishes.

In the spirit of the continuing ChartBlog Take That amnesty, I was a HUGE Take That fan when I was at school, and then they broke up and I moved on, and then a couple of years later I was at university and someone put their Greatest Hits on, and after about four or five tracks I thought "what a load of old rot - I can't believe I used to listen to this".

I'll be standing over by the wall now - feel free to commence throwing stones at your leisure.

stupidcriticsrus... maybe we can resume the conversation on Sunday when the new chart is announced , and we will all see Take That's chart position for " Said it all " which you are sure it will get to number one, while on Monday I was sure that it would not.

Gary's easily one of the best songwriters in the UK, and gets nowhere near the amount of credit he deserves.

You can hardly say that Mama Do beats Said It All on lyrics or music video let alone the actual tune itself.

Said it all is a classic song and the Circus is one of the best albums I have listened to for a long time.
This sort of record review is the sort of stuff you see from music people all the time and I find it a bit pathetic really.
When somebody starts a review with the sort of phrase like "I never really liked Take That " you are never going to get an objective review.

I myself have for a long time been into a completely different type of music ( Status Quo) . However I always liked Take That and am quite open minded when listening to music.
When I got the Circus album I listened to it and listened to it for ages as the songs were so good and the boys shared the singing around which I think really works.

I was therefore really interested to see exactly how well the Circus would translate to the stadium shows at Wembley and I must say out of all the many wonderful concerts that I have seen over the years the Take That Wembley concert was the best I have ever seen.
Said it all came across brilliantly and Take That proved that even though Gary Barlow is probably one of the best singer/song writers of all time, all the group can sing and play and make the band what it is.
It would seem that this review was written by one of the many people that think that it is clever to just knock people who are successful and doing well instead of giving them the credit that they deserve.

Vicki Lutas , how you can say Take That songs are "Grandma Fodder " and say you prefer the Backstreet boys is beyond me.

Have you not ever heard "Show me the meaning of being lonely or Shape of my heart"?
Once again when writing a review try and be a little more open minded and then you will not come across as biased and a little bit stupid!!!

1 Hutton Hammer , I must admit I do love it on this site , when we have true , knowledgeable fans of singers and acts ,who come on and really speak from the heart about the music and bands they love , and speak from personal experience.
Do feel free to comment about lots of other songs.
The more, the merrier.

1Huttonhammer - i agree that BSB had their fair share of ballads, but i think Take That produce quite different style of ballads, ones that appeal to the masses and not just fans of the group or fans of boy/pop bands. The 'grandma fodder' comment, altho harsh is probably true in the sense that the appeal of the newer take that material is alot more wide ranging than BSB (past or present)..
