Frankmusik - 'Better Off As Two'
I'm currently very entertained by the debate going on in the comments of the YouTube video of this song I was watching regarding the srs bsns of whether Vincent Frank's hair is "mint" or not. I'm assuming this isn't a reference to his alleged use of scented shampoo, although if it is, he's a wise man. Very refreshing, minty shampoo. I'm not even being facetious here - hair is a very important tool for a popstar, I went right off Harry from McFly when he shaved his head. My personal verdict is that it looks fine - not a look I'd choose to sport myself, but one that looks perfectly acceptable atop Mr Frank's head.
(. See what I mean?)
And if you're wondering why I'm spending so much time talking about the hair and not really mentioning the song, it's because it doesn't really feel like there's a lot to talk about. Not necessarily in a bad way, but I was just struck when listening to it how quickly it seems to be over - at pretty much bang on the three minutes mark, it certainly doesn't outstay its welcome. And what there is here chugs pleasantly along without ever really grabbing you under the arms and breathing all over your face in a bid to get your attention, which again isn't necessarily a bad thing, but perhaps a touch more excitement would've been nice.
There's something quite warm and familiar about the song - it's clubby and intensive, and while the content of the lyrics may not be overly cheerful, the beats themselves are uplifting, which works well here - it's the sort of song that requires you to lift your arms above your shoulders while sinking your head down and rhythmically pumping your fists in the air as if to say "Yes! I agree!" while listening to it, even if you're not wholly sure what it is you're really agreeing to.
(Go on, have a go, I can wait.)
It's not hugely revolutionary - it hearkens back to the mainstream club tunes of the 1980s and early 1990s that often involved blokes being electronic-y and heartfelt, so if you like that sort of thing, your luck's in, but if you're hoping for life as you know it to be turned upside down, you may want to look elsewhere.

It's only today that I've noticed it being on my work's radio station. I enjoyed it when I finally realised it was on, though!!

Vincent looks fantastic in this video which in itself is absolutely top class.
To me the song has an addictive melodic quality... it is a superior pop song... although another version I have has a lot more attitude. AND BIG BEATS .. while this version is safer and pop lite but obviously aimed at a lot broader audience.
Other great FRANKMUSIK songs are IN STEP and 3 LITTLE WORDS.
FRANKMUSIK'S NEW ALBUM COMPLETE ME IS RELEASED ON THE 13th OF JULY.
I predict a big future for FRANKMUSIK.

As for the Radio 1 Playlist, have you ever heard of a song called would've been the one, by Solange? (Although I Decided is brilliant too).
