GUEST REVIEWER ALERT! - Fraser

The KillersIt's been 3 long, lonely years since we had our last proper Killers album (not including 'Sawdust', but I don't think that anyone really would) and the Vegas boys are back, having emerged from the Nevada desert with what they reassuringly claim is a 'new' sound. And as usual with these boys, a new sound demands a new wardrobe.

Gone are the days where Mr Flowers could simply get up in the morning, forget to shave, and talk about making a pile of bones, or people not looking like Jesus. Oh yes, long gone. Instead you see a newly-shaved Brandon tackling the really BIG topics. And as big topics go, you can't get much bigger than whether we are human or, in fact, dancer, right?

(And yes that is dancer, NOT denser, as had been previously sung by fans. No, that would mad, although it would also be amazing.)

The release of 'Human' has caused some division among Killers fans as to whether they are still listening to the same band that brought them such hits as 'Mr. Brightside' and 'When You Were Young'. And if not, then what, and is it any better than what previously existed?

That's always the way, whenever a band shaves, or grows a beard. Luckily, the change in facial hair has had no affect on their ability to conjure up the Big Festival Choruses, to such a degree that non-fans might make a convincing claim that nothing has really changed after all.

But these people are clearly idiots. A moustache has gone! Beards have been trimmed! Things are NOT as they used to be, and this is very important in a band (so long as that band is not Oasis or AC/DC). The fact that the Killers have progressed since 'Hot Fuss' is NOT a bad thing. If they had made every single one of their songs like 'Mr. Brightside' then that song would lose what makes it special.

Sure they sound a little different now, and dress like they were involved in some sort of taxidermy car crash, but this is because they are artists, dammit. And so was Salvador Dali. And HE had a moustache. So, y'know...

Four starsDownload: Out now
CD Released: November 17th

PS: The can't work out whether it is denser or dancer either. And they LOVE the song...
