ChartBlog Goes To Switch Live Part 2

OK, so now the concert itself has got underway, and the stars are beginning to emerge from their dressing rooms and comingle. This is the witching hour, the time at which unique gossip spores are released into the atmosphere, to be picked up by trained experts such as myself, for careful analysis.

Here are some of my conclusions to date...

George Sampson is a (young) man of extremes. On the one hand he is a TV talent contest winner, and possibly the one act above all others that the Switch Live crowd wanted to see (if the banners and screams are anything to go by). But is he starry about it? He is not. George has been milling about backstage quite happily, talking to anyone, including Basshunter, which just seems a bit...wrong, somehow.

Fearne Cotton told me that every time she has mentioned George's name on stage, she has immediately been deafened by the screams. I know what she means and I am OUTSIDE.

Miley Cyrus has brought a LOT of people along with her (and a diamante microphone stand). Which is only right and proper, and a lot of them are dancers, dressed in white suits and gold shoes. They seem to be a very tight team, all laughing at Miley's jokes as if she, y'know, pays their wages. And they even do one of those "GO TEAM!" war whoops before they go on stage.

It's just as well they get on, mind, because they've had to cram into one dressing room. I tell you, one stray elbow and it's MURDER!

Patrick and Joe from Fall Out Boy have also been milling about and there are two important things I have observed. The first is that they are both REALLY small, like hobbit small. And the second occurred when someone tried to take Joe's picture, and then offered him a card explaining where this picture would appear on the web.

He didn't look too impressed, saying "I've seen enough of myself to last a lifetime." Which probably explains the beard, if nothing else.

When N-Dubz arrived, they strolled through the assorted cameramen and media types looking for all the world like the coolest stars ever, y'know, box fresh and ready for action. This cool facade was only slightly undercut by one of their team, who wagged a finger in each of their faces on the way in, saying "NO SWEARING!" as he did so. Let's hope they don't play with their food too, or there'll be hell to pay.

Mind you, Tulisa from N-Dubz had every reason to swear after their performance, as a technical problem meant that she could hear Miley Cyrus's team getting ready behind her, including sound-checks and other off-putting noises, while she was trying to sing! And people say rubbing your tummy and patting your head is hard work!

Tom Deacon and Kelly Osbourne were overheard discussing a skit in which Kelly would play a fisherman and Tom a crab. This was not something Kelly wanted to do, because, as she pointed out "at least if you were a guppy I could reel you in".

Something for us all to ponder on, there.

More to come in Part 3...
