Calling All Teenagers...
Well, not ALL teenagers, sadly. Just the ones of you who are aged between 14 and 17. The rest of you can just sit quietly for a second, I'll get to you at the end.
Fingers on lips!
OK, so, you're 14, 15, 16 or 17, and you like music. And the music you like the best tends to be by one or all of these acts:
Fall Out Boy, McFly, Ne-Yo, Miley Cyrus, Basshunter and N-Dubz.
But, as you are too young to legally go and see them live without a parent or guardian, how are you going to get your mosh on and not get, y'know, grounded for uncouth behaviour?
Fear not, young person, there is a way. ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Switch - the TV-slash-radio-slash-internet teen empire wing of the Beeb, are staging a live event in London on October 12th. All of the acts listed above are going to be there, plus the limb-spinning dance whirlwind George Sampson. And you can be there too, if you just follow some simple instructions and cross your fingers.
³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Switch Live will be taking place at London's Hammersmith Apollo, on Sunday October 12th. It's the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ's first gig exclusively for 14 to 17 year olds, and will be hosted byNick Grimshaw, Annie Mac, Kelly Osbourne and Tom Deacon - the host of the very amazing web TV experience The 5:19 Show.
Now, you may be wondering how to get tickets. Well, calm down a second. To find that out, you'll have to tune into Radio 1's Switch With Annie & Nick, from 7pm this Sunday.
Alternatively, you could go to the Switch Live website, and obsessively refresh the Ticket Info page until your browser melts. Let's call that Option B.
So, just to recap, Switch Live is like a one-day, mini-festival, just for people aged between 14 and 17. But don't despair if you are not within this crucial age range. If this one is a success (and, er, have you SEEN the lineup?), you under-14s will be able to come along to the next one, assuming you're old enough by then.
As for you 18-year-olds, you can go to normal gigs, what're you moaning about? Sheesh!
Oh no, wait, that's not the consolation prize. The consolation prize is of course that there is going to be tons of stuff about this event available in handy web form! For people of ANY AGE! And! I'll be backstage bringing you the ChartBlog On Location Report. If there's a finer badge of quality for a musical event, I have not seen it.
Did I mention that there's a website? I'm sure I did...

"OK, so, you're 14 or 15 (or 16 and 17 and your local gig venue or festival enforces a strict over-18s policy)"
I think that covers it. It really does depend on the licensing agreement the venues/festivals have.
