The Proclaimers

Dear ChartBlog readers. If you will forgive a(nother) moment of reflection, where instead of talking about matters related to music and the people who make it, I instead choose to reveal some deep flaw within myself and beg for forgiveness...today you find me a broken man, a mere shadow of a fragment of a shell of a husk of the pop blogger who usually coughs up verbal hairballs all over the internet.

And the cause of my downfall is the bloke with the arrows pointing to his bespectacled head. He didn't look like he had what it takes to take me down, but BOY did he...

Who needs a mirror when you've got a brother? Here's the full story. I arranged to interview Charlie Reid, the guitar-toting half of Scots twinner agit-folk-pop veterans the Proclaimers, thinking we could talk about the band's glittering career, their long history of self-mockery on TV comedy shows, the unwavering support the band receive from both Dr Who AND Vicki Pollard (in their off-duty guises - David Tennant and Matt Lucas) and stuff like that.

And that's exactly what happened, except for some reason Charlie's presence magically brought about a total personality shut down, and an enlargement of my tongue. I can think of no other reason why talking to him became such hard work, and why The Funny left the ChartBlog interview arena with such speed.

What's worse is that as soon as I got off the phone to Charlie, the tongue became nimble again and I was back to being incredibly funny. Or credibly funny, at the very least. Bah!

So, here it is. The entire ChartBlog brain melt. I hope this serves as a warning to all of you. Twins are EVIL (apart from the really nice ones)...
