Tokio Hotel - 'Ready Set Go'
Settle down, this is going to be a LONG REVIEW, but totally worth it. I first encountered Tokio Hotel last year as a kind of musical holiday romance, when the song 'Durch Den Monsun' ('Under The Monsoon') came on MTV Europe while I was waiting to lech over Alexz Johnson. I must admit, my original thoughts were "my God that lesbian singer is beautiful, I wish I could carry off that haircut" and thinking the song was pretty.
Obviously, since then I've discovered that that lesbian is equipped with the wrong genitalia for the job and that she is really a teenage boy called Bill. It bears saying that Bill Kaulitz is very, incredibly, freakishly beautiful. He has the kind of elegant face that most girls would cut off several of their own limbs for and he also moves with a kind of dainty ease and shy-confidence which give him a sort of glowing, charismatic aura. He's basically totally mesmerising.
If you watch the original video to 'Durch Den Monsun' (they've made a new video for the English language version, which is just called 'Monsoon' and delights me for reasons too geeky to go into here) then you can see what Bill (and the rest of the band) looked like just as they exploded to fame...
Cute, aren't they? The song is, too. And this is where, for the second time in recent weeks, Chartblog is probably being stalked by vigilante tabloid readers, because right there none of those boys is over seventeen and err, oh dear.
Here lie the problems for Tokio Hotel.
Problem One: they're outrageously pretty. I've mentioned Bill, right? Well Tom (dreadlocks, Bill's twin) looks like the face of the Attitude clothing catalogue (girl's section) and Gustav (masculinity) and Georg (long hair, no make up,) would hit you as hotties from two hundred feet away in any other band.
Now, I'm not shocked by Bill wearing make up; I grew up gothy and I know lots of boys who wear eyeliner and are a bit feminine. I'm not shocked that they're sexualised; they're seventeen, I spent all damn day thinking about sex when I was seventeen and so did everyone else. I'm kind of shocked, however, by the extreme reactions the band create in everyone else.
Tokio Hotel's detractors are loud and mostly complain about how young, how pretty and how ridiculous looking they are. And actually, they ARE all of these things and they say stupid stuff that doesn't help the situation because they're popstars and that's what popstars do when they're given a microphone to talk into.
Despite this, a lot of the problems that people claim they have with the band are actually with themselves because it IS weird how attractive they are. It even makes ME feel uncomfortable at twenty, let alone anyone older than me, and so we're happier to write them off as a teengirl fantasy rock band. Never mind that most pubescent girls probably wouldn't fancy Bill if he wasn't making the music he does. The issue here, I suspect, is that Tokio Hotel make us all feel pretty old, (and consequently fairly perverted).
Problem Two: their music is actually good. No, seriously, this is a problem. I haven't found a single song of theirs that couldn't blow a lot of UK and US rock out of the water and then proceed to stamp on it for a while. They do deserve respect as musicians and songwriters and it's difficult to get that when you're young, pretty, androgynous boys.
Despite this, their music isn't, as some fans would adoringly announce, the best thing in the world ever. They sound like Lostprophets (which, God knows, is difficult enough for Lostprophets themselves without anyone else joining in) in the sense that they have a powerful rock dynamic and also good enough songwriting ability to create poppy tunes.
'Schrei,' for instance, is pretty heavy (and also almost certainly their 'youngest' song; it's all about not wanting to grow up, if my C at German GCSE serves me correctly) but simultaneously catchy and has a shout-along "nein, nein, nein, nein, nein" bit in the chorus.
'Ready Set Go' combines the two problems of Tokio Hotel in exemplary fashion. It could be off 'Liberation Transmission' sonically, although it's by no means plagiaristic. Bill carries through on his promise to perfect an English accent, his singing is excellent and the whole song hangs together nicely.
The message is fairly basic - 'come with me and it's us against the world', essentially - and the lyrics may be rather simplistic, but if I was asked to translate a song into German, I can guarantee the results would be far uglier, so it's still pretty impressive. Plus this is a good statement of intent in a market where they've been talked about a lot and yet not really heard except by minorities, often through a language barrier.
See what I mean? It's not the most savage attack on society ever but there's something about the band that makes them threatening anyway. Remember, kids, adults always say the cool stuff is rubbish and not as good as what they had back in their day and oh my God, look how they're dressed, THINK OF THE CHILDREN! On the other hand, it is still nothing to get totally fired up about. Which leaves me with...
Problem Three: I don't want to throw my support behind them and swear to defend them to the death, cus they're not THAT amazing or unusual, and there's definitely something creepy about the way their management market them. But equally I can't jump on the hate bandwagon because I think they're quite good, to be honest.
This song is quite good. It's catchy and I've played it more than is necessary to just review it. There doesn't seem to be a middle ground to stand in on Tokio Hotel, though and I think that's the root of all their other issues so no matter what rating the song gets, people will form their own opinions and that's good and right but I've tried to give them a fair hearing so, uh, let's all be nice, right?

I think that was officially your longest review yet.
Are you serious that the lead singer is male? I feel sick and ashamed of myself for thinking 'Hmm, she's pretty hot'. Surely you are just messing around?. . please??
With regards to their music, I too heard 'Durch Den Monsun' on MTV Europe and thought 'Wow this band are amazing' but when translated into English it's doesn't have the same effect. It's the same with their new number, it should be brilliant, but its just good instead.
You see what I mean?
I agree with Jamie, about them being just good. I didn't listen to them until they were on TV the other day, but I'd heard alot of hype about them on the internet. Like they were voted 'world's greatest band' in some big poll recently.
I'm not saying they're bad, by all means, I like the song, but it's not brilliant. It's just good.
And that lead singer. Male? It's kinda creepy.
Fraser M are u male or female
sorry im just not sure
Fraser is a man, although it was actually me that wrote the review and I am a girl.
[I'm not even a man who looks like a girl either. - Fraser]
I totally dissagree.. tokio hotel is NOT a good band and their music isn't so very different from what all the other emo bands have to offer nowadays.
I'm from the Netherlands and the TH hype has reached this country a long time ago.
They don't have anything new to offer. And it isn't so remarkable for a band to translate it's songs into english. There are a lot of dutch bands that have done the same, and still they do not get the attention from other countries that they diserve. I just think it is unfair that this one band gets so much attention when I don't think they're so special. (just because they're german?!)
[I sincerely doubt it's just because they're German. But I can see why you feel the way you do about all the other stuff. - Fraser]
I guess I'm a special case, as I'm half-German. This is the first time I heard their stuff, and Durch Den Monsun is just gorgeous... maybe not so much if you're English. I don't understand how people can accuse German of being ugly - not everyone speaks like Hitler, you know. Scream isn't so good... he has an irritating way of singing in English and I preferred his voice a bit higher. Ah well. I suppose I can get the first album.
TH are THE best band in the world :D
Wow! Sarah, I like you! Someone who actually agrees with me, this must be a first. Thank you, you've made my day. I'll be sure to repay the favour and agree with you on something. Thanks again!
My this is the most well thought out review I've read! I discovered Tokio Hotel for myself back in February, saw their video for 'Ubers Ende Der Welt' (the original German version Ready, Set, Go!) and I have to admit at first I wasn't so fussed. About a week down the line out of curiousity I hunted down every vid they'd made, heard all the music and found myself on a rapid downward spiral to becoming a Tokio Hotel Fangirl.
It caught me off guard to tell you the truth, like amazingly off-guard. They're like a drug, and I'm an addict. I know there is better music, but they just have... 'something' when I work out what it is I'll be sure to let you all know.
Since February, I have found myself moderating their UK forum, helping run their UK street team, I also managed to meet them before their London gig, oh and leanring some German too. Oh my! I am 22, they make me feel 13, in a slightly freaky way.
Thankyou for your honest opinions it's always good to know what people really think. Tokio Hotel for me are not just a band but a community of people, through a love of them and their music I have become friends with some of the most amazing people.
... was an of that waffling relevant, I think I've gone off on a tanjent... whoops!
Ever since I heard of Tokio Hotel two years ago they've been a drug I find hard to resist. I was one of the people who though frontman Bill was a girl. But, deep inside, I found out that I had a crush on him. It was after Schrei came out, that I found out I found my crush. Wow, I sound Lame.
Anyway, this is an amazing review. And humerous.
Kayxx
This is a really well thought out review and there are many points I agree on. Not least of all that the band's look is problem number one. But, that's also their biggest advantage. For every man and woman that is left feeling uncomfortable by their attraction to Bill, another man or woman, girl or boy, is embracing Bill's androgeny and appreciating his beauty. I'm 27, and yeah I do feel a bit old to be fawning over a band who's average age is 18, but they bring out the teen in me and god knows we all need that at times.
The extreme polarised views on Tokio Hotel is what's going to continue to make them the most buzzed about band of the moment. The fans are crazy about them, the haters hate them with a passion - it works to their advantage - everyone wants to know what it is causing such a rumble. Why are they getting the attention that other European bands aren't? Well in my opinion the passion of the fans is what makes this band so much stronger. While they have great tunes and a striking look, their fanbase compliments this with their loyal and dedicated work to bring Tokio Hotel to the top of every poll and contest to receive all the exposure they can. Loyalty and passion of that kind is infectious - and now it's spreading to the UK!
lmao I love tokio hotel so much, I was at their first UK concert and it was brillo!!!!!! BIll's old hair was more manly, but I think his hair now is hawt! LOL. OH and Duch den monsun is THROUGH the monsoon not under the monsoon (thanks my german speaking friend)
hey,
yeah i think i agree with you. they definatley have something there, its creepy, but not stalker creepy, which is good.
i was surprised to learn that they are all 17, but then again that is a huge achivement, and they've managed to create some original stuff which is new and exciting...or it may just be me, seeing as i do get oddly excited amongst forign people...hmmm
i've only recently heard of this band, but im really really loving their stuff. Their image is just right to caputre peoples attention, you either love em' or you hate em' ...a bit like marmite.
I would buy anything from them...they make everything seem cooler than it really is...i think its thier german-ness that does the trick for me.
They totally rock my socks!
I watched Tokio Hotel once, on one of my cousin's t.v in Cyprus, because they have this really random music channel, that has mostly french music on it, but Tokio Hotel appeared, and I thought, Holy Crap look how hott he is.
Although thats probably very preppy to just base likeing someone by an image, I really adore their music.
Listening to music from different countries, Is- I think - totally open minded, why listen to something just in english, when you can listen to something just as good in a different language.
Also, make-up on a guy, Is way hott. Black eyeshadow and eyeliner. Yum.
I don't really think they're the same as any other band, not just because they're German, but because I believe they're have some thing different.
It's just my opinion. =/
First of all, its not they're all 17. Only the twins are 17 and in a few days will turn 18 anyways.. the other couple of guys are 18 turning 19 soon, and 20.
Their music is catchy and they got some well-written lovely lyrics. So yeah, you could say that its not so special and might sound similar to other bands, but still, i think they do it better than anyone before. Main reason is, they are young indeed. They arent afraid of having their own style and being attacked by this from time to time.
Id recommend you to listen to the 2 Albums in German if you feel like discovering real Tokio Hotel music. The English thingy feels a little bit fake after all.
I think that was a pretty good review =] i think there songs are really catchy i cant stop playing them i really like "rette mich"(rescue me) at the moment..the video at the end was so funny =]
S*** house haha!
well... for a start i absolutely love tokio hotel.. im a huge fan and have been since the started. theyre german versions i personally think are amazing (english ones dont do it 4 me tbh). Bill is beautiful and im now officially obsessed, as a member of the tokio hotel uk street team i must publicise the fact tokio hotel are amazing and buy their new uk single nooooowwww. XD Beware tho once u listen u will never look back and be addicted forever... i know i am. listen to the german versions tho... i do prefer them.
this bend is the best,,!
i love they & i think that you don't have right to visit on them in the negative way & you know that tokio hotel fan is maybe visit here & i realy think that they think like me.
And I from Israe,, ;]
Ah yes, the awkwardness of liking Tokio Hotel and you are old and wise (over 23)
Thanks for this review it was well thought out.
I like their music in German, in English I am still adjusting to some songs but this one they did well enough. They lose some strength in translation as many people noticed and thats a shame. I am also a sucker for breaking of boundaries they brought together with some nice music (French craze about learning German,Israeli effort of getting them to play there).
They have matured also and continue to do so. When i first run into them I was all kinds of confused when in some videos they looked 12, in some 20. Fortunately, this single and their latest album are big leap from that teeny feel they had 2 years ago.
Well done on a fantastic review of Tokio Hotel. I agree with most of your points... but have to say that Tokio Hotel are being aimed at the teen market, and anyone else is welcome!
Julia
so is there any chance of getting one of their songs on RADIO?!
would that not be soo cool!!
driving along, and all of a sudden " .. runnning throught he monsoon, beyond the world.."
OR " Ready,Set,Go!.. its time to run!.."
please make it happen, if only for a few seconds to show everyone there music, introduce them, and then get people to phone or text in if they like them or not.. see if they would like the music to be played?
good idea?
I really liked your review on TH.
I learned about them through my daughter who is 15 and I must say I was pretty surprised by their music. Here, in the belgian french part of the country we first got to know the german versions of their songs. Apart from Nena I really didn't like German songs that much before as I always felt the language had a 'hard' side to it. But Tokio Hotel surely made me change my mind about that.
I find it pretty amazing that a band of that age makes such good music.
The english versions of their songs are not that bad, after all it is extremely difficult to translate a song and give it the same sence and feeling as the original one.
Ok, bill looks like a mixture between an elf, a manga and an attractive vampire but this look really does it. Boys feel ashamed because they found the girl of TH so sexy and girls are puzzled by his looks as well as by his attitude.
Whether you like TH or not they all have a lot of talent, I just hope their management doesn't overkill them.
Fortunately for the UK fans they still can get to their concerts, here in Belgium the hype is making it pretty imposible to get tickets.
Being 44, I certainly wouldn't fainth like most of their female fans if I would see them in concert but I would have spent at least a very good time listening to very good music.
cool review - I like it!
However, I don't understand what you mean by "there is definitely something creepy about the way their management market them"????
Doesn't make any sense to me.
Tokio Hotel are the best in the World.
You rude ol' people who don't like them and disses them should keep quiet cause you don't even know anything about them!
They are HUGE all over Europe and to tell you how Huge, girls battered each other and have even broken limbs about these guys.
You didn't see anyone do that with the Beatles now did ya! (I hardly know who they are, don't think they were around that long?!). If anyone is going to reply to that get a life cause TH is way better!
I am never a mean person but I always stick up for what's best!
I was too confused about Bill's sexuality the first time I saw them with my sister on the music channel earlier this summer but I thought goodness what perfection!
TH forever and much love to their devoted fans, stacii oxoxoxox
I love Tokio Hotel!
Ready Set Go is insanely amazing =D
I hope its gonna do well in the charts,
they deserve it!
Thanks for the review, and thanks for making it intresting!!
Oh yeah, Jamie, the lead singer is defo a guy, hes called Bill. hehe. So please dont cary on thinking hes hot ;)
I am so glad people have heard of this band in the UK. I first heard them on MTV Italia this summer with their number 1 hit Monsun.
I thought that they were great, they should definetly bring out some music here properly.
I'd say this is a fair review of Tokio Hotel.
Unfortunately I discovered them on a German Exchange earlier in the year by my exchange partner and her brother telling me how rubbish they thought they were - so they seemed like the German version of McFly or something, i.e. popular with pre-teen girls, but not exactly credible. My partners mum told me all the girls in Germany liked the band, so I guess they go for the confused sexuality look over there.
Having said that, was embarassed to find I quite liked the song Ready Set Go.
Great review!
Tokio Hotel rock!
These guys are amazing and their music is great in English and in German.
lol Bill is definitely a GUY! and yeah he is strangely perfect =S
Ready, Set, Go! is amazing and as a lot of people already said, strangely addictive. i agree that omce you listen to it you really cant go back!
I first discovered them on a music channel in Italy this summer when their song monsoon started playing. i loved then at once! lol
I hope they do well in the UK and come back for a tour soon!
i remember in the middle of my summer holidays i first heard of tokio hotel on MTV2 and at first i thought bill was female but know i know hes not and hes one good singer to be able to translate german songs to english aswell.
when i heard Ready! Set , Go in english i really did love it . then when i heard it in german i liked it even more.
how come that one seriously meant(?) review about music only goes about how utterly, incredibly, outrageously(...) great looking these "boys" are? that's pointless and a bit stupid, because they have become more and more ludicrous carricatures of themselves and it suggests the (probably female) reviewer just had a hormone probleme and too less sexual experiences in the last 4 or 5 years...
i'm sorry for her...
over here in germany tokio hotel just might be what mc fly are in the uk: a fashion-hype without a cause, just interesting for superficial girls unter 20 with some identity problems and too much tv-consumption on their hands... "pop" in every respect, not particularly good nor bad, just forgotten in at least 5 years...
so, just calm down and take your pills...
[Hey Nils, what's German for 'rocksnob'? - Fraser]
Thank you for that very intelligent review!!
I am German but I used to live in England since I was 17, now 26 and just moved back to Germany. Here I heard that there was a band that people hate called Tokio Hotel and I vaguely new that the singer wears black eyeliner so I had to find out about them. I new that I would have my own opinion about them as I don't care what these German sheep think, having been away so long and liberated from the snobbish attitude! LOL! And I found myself absolutely and utterly fascinated by Bill's voice, look the music and everything. And it makes me laugh so much that your reaction (and that of lots of other ppl) was the same as mine!! To anyone who has read Harry Potter, Bill has the effect of a "Veela" and that is why we are all reacting to him and the band like that. I am proud and excited that a German band is finally being recognized worldwide, and by the way some Germans behave towards them I would go as far as saying that the Germans as a Nation do not deserve it!! Thank you ppl in the UK for giving a German band the time of the day, these are exciting times!!!!!
Thank you for such a fab review. :)
I only recently got 'heavly' into Tokio Hotel and I simply cant get enough. Their music unlike anything here in England and i simply cant understand why there are so many 'Haterz'
out there?
Their music is so beautifuly writtern,
it would be amazing in any language on earth. Bill Kaulitz is simply beautiful, no one compares (Im not saying this because I am just love struck teen saying, 'OMGZ HOW BUFF IS HE?!?!) his beauty reflects in to his songs, if you understand my meaning. I recently watched them perform live on YouTube and they sound fantastic, just like their english album.
Their Music = FANTASTIC!
Their Style = Stunning!
Their everything = Number 1 in my books!
Simply amazing.
:)
P.s Where can I buy their first two german albums?
I just want to say this:
'Durch Den Monsun' is not translated as 'Under The Monsoon' but as 'Through The Monsoon'
And 'Schrei' is not about not wanting to grow up, but about staying true to yourself and not letting other people dictate your life.
Ha, fangirl review !
However, it's fine to see that TH is getting a fair attention by a media.
Of course they are very special and Bill is one of the bestlooking guys I've ever seen. Great styling, interesting voice - BUT they aren't that good that this review will tell us.
The music is very standarized, nothing big.
I think they are ok, but nothing more.
But I am sure they will will make it everywhere cause girls are the same in all countries ...
Question to "Frazer" : are you the same person who did the 30 Seconds to Mars review? Hard to believe ... you must have a problem with your ears ... *gg*
[A: Hazel Robinson wrote this review, that's why her name is on the bottom of it.
B: It's FraSer.
C: My ears are fine. I said the 30 Secs song has a brilliant chorus. That means it's GOOD. - Fraser]
i´m from germany and tokio hotel were versus with the beatles !!!!! tokio hotel are very famous above 15 countries!!!
but i don´t know why the english dislike tokio hotel. and bill is a man and i love him he´s so... cute and nice !!!

First things first:
I love Tokio Hotel.
It is rather amazing how 'perfect' they are. The makeup, the hair.. everything! Absoloutly gorgeous!! Haha, sorry you had to see that..
And I love their songs.. All of them!
Its true- theres not a single song on their album that I don't enjoy. Sure, there are some songs I like better, but none than I wouldn't like to hear!
On most CDs that I buy, I usually find 3 or 4 songs that I like, and the rest is okay or bad. This album is amazing!
One thing I don't agree on- Bill hasn't completly mastered the 'english accent'. You can still hear the german in a few parts, and a few words are stressed at the wrong parts, but thats okay. =)
They are amazing & in some way very unusual.. I don't listen to lots of 'pop' or 'rock' musik, or enjoy it.. and TH is definetly my favourite band of all time. My favourite song would definetly be 'In Die Nacht'. I love the way Bill cares so much for Tom, it almost makes me wish my brother and I were that close. Almost. Certainly makes me wish Bill and myself were close.. Haha. =)
Oh and by the way, its not 'Under the Monsoon', its 'Through the Monsoon'.
This is the best review I've read so far!
They're strangely fascinating, I don't know what it is, but look at the impact they have... And yes, Bill Kaulitz is totally mesmerising!
Thanks for posting this and thanks to all the people that have posted comments as well. I'm 29, and glad to know now that I'm not the only one above a certain age that enjoy their music.
Oh my god! ^__^
Tokio Hotel are the best band ever.
My friend introduced me to them in February this year. Ever since then I've been completely obsessed. They are amazing! I love Bill =D
I love every song that they have made and I can't help it, but sometimes they're the only band I listen to for a while.
I was at the concert on 19th June and it was AMAZING!! Seriously the best concert I have EVER been to. I almost cried when I saw Bill come on stage. It's an amazing feeling to be that close to your favourite band of all time! =)
Bill's voice is just amazing, and he's just as great live as on CD's. It's weird just how good that are. I'd do anything to meet them even for just 5 minutes
=D x
I have just recently came across Tokio Hotel as i come from scotland and did not find out untill they released songs in english
but when i heard them i realised how Brilliant they are! so i downloaded all their stuff and listened to it in german aswell as i can understand most of it as i study german at school and i think they sing it amazing in both german and english!
they are an amazing band and i hope they go really far and for a long time too!
would love for them to start touring over here would love to see them!! :D
i love tokio hotel i think they rock. its actually amazing how lots of german kids hate them. I had a german girl over a few weeks ago because our school is doing german exchange and loads of the germans hated tokio hotel. i was like what????? they just dont appreciate good music. haha
i love tokio hotel, they are my most favourite band in the world and they are also the best band in the world.
An another thing
Bill Kaulitz IS A GUY!!
a very very very very very very hot guy!! he is just so unbelieveably sexy.
and they produce really good music. not just ok, or not just 'one hit wonder' type stuff. i mean REALLY good music.
and whats this about the weird management marketing?
I LOVE TOKIO HOTEL!
im such a big fan im too obsessed!
Yeah..i agree with sain...
BILL KAULITZ IS A GUY!
GAH!
its not that hard!...i love him!
They produce great music and have worked really hard to get where they are now and are still working hard now!
I mean their new song...1000 meere! Pure brilliance!!!
=]
Great review on Tokio Hotel!
Bill is really cool, and my friends thought he was a girl too, so you are'nt alone! Lol.
i think their music is fantasic, and guys, check out the album Scream (their latest 1) its really good!!!!
Apparently they are really good in concert too, so i am gona find that out!!!
I am also VERY pleased that they won Best inter Act at the EMAs this month, and i voted 4 them!
tokio hotel are hot and F2F. wooow i love them so much. they are wicked. also i can speack some german i'm doing it for GCSE! only because of them - there WICKED WOW? and Fit 2 F* Hell. aaaarrrrrgggghhhhh
I found out about Tokio Hotel just as they were about to release their English album, but after listening to their German songs, I concluded that they're best in their native language. I give them credit for translating their songs into English and letting others hear their message, though.
Those that dislike them have a right to, although I don't really understand why. Th deserves their respect as a rock band; they try just as hard as every other rock band trying to make it in the world. I am amazed how young they are and respect them for their heartfelt songs.
Bill Kaulitz sings these songs very prettily, and I'm amazed how easily I got addicted to this soft, luring sound.
To those of you that dislike them, I recommend giving them another try-- maybe starting in their native language. Give a listen to their new songs "Geh" and "1000 Meere," and let's see how you like them then.
Aha...now that was proberly the most funniest interview evuuur. Almost as funny as mine i did with them ;)
This was a very good review I must say.
I happen to like Tokio Hotel. They aren't my favorite band by far, but there is something about them that is very endearing. I can't really explain it, but I'm sure that other fans know what i'm talking about.
I find it rather funny that when I introduced them to one of my guy friends, he really liked them. He didn't have a clue as to what they looked like (I live in the U.S.A) and when i showed him a picture he did a complete turn around.
I think Bill makes people uncomfortable. He's extremely "freakishly beautiful" and many people just don't understand that.
My guy friend now "hates" them, and i have to laugh when i think about how defensive he gets when i ask him why.
I think he's freaked that he finds Bill attractive. It's basic psychology, 'reaction formation'. You have a impulse that is "taboo" and you try to convince yourself that you have no such impulse by overexaggerating the opposite behaivor. This is subconcious so you don't realize it at the time, but people do it all the time. (It doesn't help that they are everywhere....TV...Radio...Magazines)
An example would be an insecure person who acts overly aggressive and tough. It's like their trying to convince people that they aren't insecure.
Sexuality is such a taboo subject in this generation, and it's a shame. I don't think there is anything wrong with a male admitting to being attracted to Bill, or another male for that matter. After all Bill is very feminine and it's easy to see how a heterosexual may find him attractive.
It's wether or not you act on that attraction that makes the difference.
Secondly, the english album.
I find it very sad that countries like America and others are so against music sung in a different language. I find Tokio Hotel's original German songs to be very beautiful, enrapturing and thrilling. Their english album....it falls flat for me.
I don't like any of their english songs except for "Sacred" and "Ready Set Go"
I just feel like they could have spent more time on the english lyrics, and made them have more consitency.
However that being said, I'm looking forward to buying their english album mainly so that they will come do a tour in America. I would like to see them perform live.
Too bad it will be in english. >.
Well I think i've gone on long enough. So tata for now.

Good review! I have a question for someone though, do you happen to know how the band feels about having so many "anti- tokio hotel" groups?
You guys thought Bill was a girl?
lmao
i never thought that
i always knew he was just a really hot guy
But yes i like this review its justified
Arschloch means asshole :'D
I'm not sure about the other words, but that's one that I know XD
*sorry for the minor swear word there*
I'm 15 and first heard there music about two months ago on a trip to Germany and have since been obsessed with them even though my friends can't stand them. After reading this article and comments I have to say I am not in the least bit attracted to Bill, its Tom Kaulitz, his twin brother with the dreadlocks that does it for me, hes beautiful!
ok number 1 i cant beleav thet tom and bill are twins not being resist but they look nothing alike. Ifrist heard there dong in this 100 fm thing ma siz showed me and i fell in love with the song monsoon and i only founout today that they not like 20 or over and yesterday i found out thet they are realy young and i kept thinking that the band would be like 20 in the 200 but NO there like in the teens sorry yer but that is too too too scary lol.IM sorta emo but not all pepz (wont name) wont let me but i do thing time to time lol im kinda like a mixtched of thing like g and stuf so yer ya no but im totaly into rock and tokyo hotel but the one thing i dont get is y they named them self that and there like in Germany i mean come on some one must no what im talking bout pleez!

i first heard of them at the EMA awards 2008 munich. since then ive been totally obseessed with them and now i think im spreading it to everyone around me. they are and AMAZING band and their songs are way good too. Bill and tom(and goerge sometimes) are completly hot but i like bill the most.
In the slink meets tokio hotel video, when she asks them to say 'what i cant hear you' and they say that vashlush thing it looks so much like their actually swearing at her lol because tom says it again with ots of agression and she copies lol.
Tokio Hotel are an amazing band and i back them all the way!

Hello, we are two French fans who have created a blog talking about the groupies group tokio hotel. Indeed since summer 2007, fans are mobiler against groupies and commericlisation that affects the group. We do not currently s'avons if it is a question of the same problem in other countries such as England, Spain or even germany. That is why we invite you to discover our new blog in the English version: www.x-no-groupies-x-eng.skyrock.com and do not forget to give us feedback to let us know what you think about thereon.
hi .....tnx about it....but who has their mails or addresses?...just send me a mail plz!

I remember when I first saw a video of Tokio Hotel I was like "Christ she's pretty, im jealous" and was uncomfortably attracted to this supposed girl. So I looked them up and found out "her" name was Bill. I was shocked. The attraction became a little less uncomfortable.
I then listened to some of their songs and was instantly hooked. Since then I have turned into a major fan girl.
This is a great review :) xx
I first found out about them last summer when i went to france and they were everywhere and i was just like "am i missing something here?" and then my friend played them for me in the new school term and i didnt think they were that amazing but now i'm hooked. I think they are totally awsome and the twins are hot!
What do you think the chances of them coming to Cardiff are???
Very nice review! It's about time the critics had something positive to say about these talented boys. It bothers me that people are so quick to judge based on Bill's adrogynous looks, but Tokio Hotel are have definitely broken through that barrier in Europe. One of the reasons I am a fan is because I respect they way they handle their success, and their relationship with the fans. The boys of Tokio Hotel truly do appreciate their fans, and you can definitely sense that at their concerts - the passion is mutual. It's also nice to see that they've recorded an English album in order to get in touch with the American and UK fans, but their charisma and passion for music is much more apparent in the German songs. Whatever happens though, Tokio Hotel fans will always support the band, and this has been their advantage ever since the age of 14.
I thing that this song is good... I`m a fan tokio hotel. And Bill sinsgs wery wery good and talk in English. All guys from tokio hotel talk good in English...Actualy I got a crush on Bill But I ges that Bill don`t like me . Don`t look I now its sounds Lame and loke Lame

How are you allowed to say that we are insane?? we love tokio hotel and their songs too!!!! we know Bill, Tom, Georg and Gustav from ever and not like you that know them from fiew months!!! you are so so so so so so so so so so so ........bad educated!!! we were very happy that OUR tokio hotel went to America, we were so proud, but now no more for your foolish words!! REMEMBER: THEY ARE EUROPEANS AND EUROPE WILL BE THEIR HOME!!! AND HERE THEY'LL RETURN EVER!!!!

I agree wih you
first of all I must say I´m a spanish learner of english so I´m afraid I could expres in a wrong way.
I love them and specialy bill. You´re write when you say bill apearence is strange but at the same time is so cute and honey... He could have an emo apearance but I think that in fact he isn´t.
He is always smilling, and an emo doesn´t. In fact his smille has helped me to front my examinations an dificulties which started to depress me( I´studing mechanical enginering)
I think that the people who insult them envie them.
they are promoting them language. I´ve never been interested in learning German and now I am. In france lots of students are leaving Englsh to learn Geman.
they´re perfect... well at least bill is perfect.
kisses from spain

Hey I LOVE tokio hotel. i think my all time favourites by them would have to be Ubers Ende Die Welt (Ready Set Go) and Spring Night (Don't Jump). They're and AMAZING BAND!
I also love Bill, the singer :o he's truely incredible! I really want to meet him and i LOVE his hair. The two brother in the band are just AWESOME!
tokio hotel is not a good band. they dress up like girls and pretend that they are queens. They turn people into EMOs, and believe me, it's sad to see a guy wearing 2 tons of hair gel and 5 tons of makeup. there are much better german bands (Blind Guardian, Rammstein, Kreator etc.).
wow, yeah Tokio Hotel, I think they are amazing.
I even have a tokio hotel hoody :p
But yeah, bill? GORGEOUS.
And yeah, tom? GORGEOUS.
i think they are just a bit amazing ;)
I LOVE TOKIO HOTEL.
