SongSpoiler - Amy MacDonald
It's quite a sweet song this, innit? Nice boomy voice, good tumbledown melody. You would have to be quite the evil swine to wreck people's enjoyment of a song like this by reminding them of other songs which will tug at their brains while listening, and distract them entirely until they can't remember their own name.
What kind of selfish, nasty show-off would do a thing like that?
*cough*
Anyway, what I was thinking was that this song, like a lot of us, has not one, but TWO parents. But also, like a lot of us, it resembles each parent in quite subtle ways (even though it's clearly got a lot of shared DNA).
Here's Mummy! Imagine how brilliant 'Mr Rock n Roll' would be if it had this chorus...and the whistling in...
Meanwhile, Dad's home from a hard day at the office, and he wants a roast pork dinner, with some crackling, and a nice glass of rosé...
There. Now, try not to think about elements of either of these two songs while you're listening to Amy's one, OK? Otherwise I'll feel ever so guilty. No really...

[I'm sorry, your insults don't count if you can't spell 'IDIOT' - Fraser]
Sounds not unlike the 10,000 maniacs
I must be mutton. what a ludicrous comment. Those two songs bear no relation to the Amy Macdonald song whatsoever except that one of them also has a prominent acoustic guitar. The chorus line "and we'll meet one day" is very reminiscent of something but definitely not either of these songs
she really gd there needs to be more folky people out there its all sound so good.
she has a great voice and were is the comarison with the other two songs???
Methinks you are mistaken!
