THE TOP 5...

Click on song titles for ChartBlog review and media.
Ìý 1 McFLY 'BABY'S COMING BACK' / 'TRANSYLVANIA'
Ìý 2 BEYONCE & SHAKIRA 'BEAUTIFUL LIAR'
Ìý 3 AKON 'DON'T MATTER'
Ìý 4 GYM CLASS HEROES 'CUPID'S CHOKEHOLD (BREAKFAST IN AMERICA}'
Ìý 5 SCOOCH 'FLYING THE FLAG (FOR YOU)'
The entire Top 40 is right here...

Yep, you read that right. In the week Scooch scored 12 points in Eurovision, they're Top 5 over here. Well, at least you can't accuse the British public of failing to support our pop troops in a conflict situation...

JK and Joel talk to Russ Scooch, post Eurovision...

The key lines here are "we're not taking ourselves too seriously", and "we're just having a laugh", which is, frankly, rubbish. If you don't want to compete properly, fella, don't compete.

Anyway, back in the real pop world, McFly got to number one for the seventh time, which means we should all crack open a bottle of fizzy while we listen to this...

JK and Joel talk to Tom about Star Wars...

And Amerie's astonishingly good 'Take Control' climbed up to No.10.

JK and Joel talk to Amerie about chivalry and Cee-Lo...

Okay. It's bad enough that we voted for them to represent our country to the rest of Europe.. WHY are they in the top 5??!

[I'm going to assume this is a rhetorical question, you don't need a rundown on how the chart actually works, right? ;-) - Fraser]

McFly deserved that number 1 after being on a 34 date tour. Congratulations to them.

I'm starting to love the radio version of Beautiful Liar, its amazing.

Akon - not my cup of tea.

Gym Class Heroes- Amazing tune, always stuck in my head.

Scooch - Oh gosh. 5? I supose its the Fast Food Rockers fans buying that.

I'm not sure "works" is a fantastic choice of word in this case.. people are apparently idiots who when given the chance to think for themselves mess it up completely!! We should just tell them how to think and what to like, they'd be much better off!!

Oh gosh, did I actually say that out loud? *rollz eyez*

    [Technically no...but that's just nit-picking. - Fraser]

Dude I'm not TWELVE!! I voted and all! :D

Except even with my magical vote the country managed to vote SNP in.. allbeit to a minority government! So I'm back to my point about telling people how to think because they are apparently too insane to make reasonable decisions. ;)

Don't you love it when random conversations go full circle?

[A buffalo. You did say 'random' - Fraser]

I enjoyed the below banter :)

Mcfly definitely deserve their position atop the charts. Transylvania is my favourite song off of the album (which I am no longer ashamed to own, Mcfly are amazing!), and the new song is really good too. I don't understand the whole lack of boybands that play instruments around though. Busted and Mcfly both made it big, made good music and generally entertained fans. So why haven't the record companies caught on yet?

On the scooch topic, I mean really. They were awful. But then again, when Britain scored nil point (that phrase seems so cliched these days) the record still got in the top 20. Screw the whole politics thing, we just put up crap acts!

And, on the topic of the chart; whatever happened to Hilary Duff's song? Did it make it in the top 40? Brilliant song, classic pop, bouncy and well done. Why does and awful song like Scooch's get in the top 10 when a good song like "With Love" can't even crack the top 40?

Sir? The Goblins ate my homework.. :P

There is a lot of politics in it, even though we do pick rubbish songs. The thing about Eurovision is it works well as a cheese-fest but only if everyone does it. When people start to go serious and ballads without the sparkles it just gets boring. Plus Terry has less to talk about and hey he's half the fun!

    I miss Busted :(
