If some of the songs on tonight鈥檚 show sound a bit crackly then don鈥檛 worry as it鈥檚 not your radio set that鈥檚 duff.
My new producer Barbara has ordered up a range of music for the next couple of shows from our music library but has somehow managed to order most of it on vinyl.
That means our version of 鈥楾he Politics of Dancing鈥 comes from the LP of Now That鈥檚 What I call Music 2 and our 鈥楧ance Yourself Dizzy鈥 is from a scabby Top of The Pops album from 1980.
Funnily enough it鈥檚 on the 成人快手鈥檚 own record label which was called 鈥楽uper Beeb鈥 and the album comes with sleeve notes from the TOTP producer congratulating The Pretenders on what he hopes will be 鈥淭he start of a successful record career and many return visits to the programme.鈥
Worst of the bunch is Neil Diamond鈥檚 20 Golden Greats. It was last played in 1983 and is totally scabby looking thing that wouldn鈥檛 raise 10p at your local jumble sale.
Meanwhile I鈥檝e just been sent an internal e-mail about our new media offerings and to remind me that I work in "a dynamic business that is going through unrivalled levels of change all the time"鈥 Well apart from the Get It On office where some things haven鈥檛 moved on since 1983鈥
