Movie Magic
The wait was finally over this week for one of the most anticipated movies of the year Balki's 'Paa' and boy, was it worth it. What can we say? It's superb. There were some stellar performances and the film is Indian emotionalism at its best. Amitabh Bachchan is fantastic in the role of a 13 year-old child suffering from progeria and Vidya Balan is great as the restrained dynamic mother.
The magic of the movie is in its simplicity and how everything gels together. It's definitely a must see! You can always tell that a film has touched a chord when at the end of the screening an audience just sits in silence long after the credits......
But as with all things the Ying and Yang factor comes into play - the other film release this weekend 'Radio' should have been released on Christmas Day - at least then everyone would have had a chew on a Turkey! Himesh is totally miscast and the film doesn't hold together. The music however is superb.
Remember, we're celebrating Amitabh Bachchan's amazing forty years in the Indian Film Industry across the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Asian Network next week, culminating in an exclusive two part interview on the show next weekend - it's his most personal interview to date so don't miss it!
