Bollywood Breaking Boundaries
Who would have thought that a total Bollywood entertainer in the true form of the word -Ìý boy(s) met girl, fall in love; trials and tribulations; song and dances;Ìý unrequited love; noble sacrifices; a mother'sÌýsacrificial love; item numbers on the beach with all the body beautiful; a kid yearning for a loving step momÌý (we could go on and on withÌýall the "Mumbai massala" ingredients that make a successful movie)Ìýwould be groundbreaking. What are we talking about?Ìý Well, its last weeks big release, Karan Johar's "Dostana".All the tried and tested plot formulasÌýwhich make a success and whisk you away into movie magicdom is there, but the groundbreaking aspect is that lead characters Abhishek and John pretend to be openly,Ìýand on the face of it, unashamedly gay. A first for Bollywood.

Raj: We were quite amazed at the reaction we got from you guys this week on the show. The majority of you loved the film and were positive about the storyline. I've also thought Karan is a visionary filmmaker, he subverts the norm and changes the agenda, all packaged in sheer
unadulterated entertainment-from love;(KKHH ) family (3KG)Ìýrelationships (KANK) and now with Dostana - sexuality.ÌýDo listen again to his as well as John and Abhishek's interviewsÌýwhich are available on ourÌýwebsite through the listen again button or download the Love Bollywood podcast.Ìý A good old fashioned rom-com in the best styles that reminds you of the golden days of

We are both looking forward to "Yuvraaj" - which releases this week. This sees the return of Subash Ghai in a story of three brothers - Salman, Anil, Zayed and Katrina Kaif asÌýthe femme fatale. AR Rahman has created a soundtrack that combines western classical with traditional indian sounds, listen to our review on Sunday. Who would have imagined Salman Khan rapping to Beethoven?

Anil Kapoor who is basking in the glory of the reaction to "Slumdog MIllionaire" which is raking it in the States spoke to us en route from LA to Mumbai and revealed he is playing an autistic musician in this family at war saga. Anil Kapoor's range goes from strength to strength. Can't wait.

Great interview with the boys from "Dostana!" Abhishek has a great sense of humor.
I think this movie has broken a few boundaries for gay characters and it did it in a very un-preachy way.
Now, we just need to convince John to keep that sculpted look - and teeny costumes - for his next!
