It is on a sad Thanksgiving Day that we are writing our blog and makes the events which are taking place in Mumbai moreÌýpoignant. We are both shocked and saddened by the unprecedented state of attacks and losses in India's commercial heart and the centre of the Indian Film Industry. ItÌýbeggars belief. Our sincere condolences to the families suffering with this inexplicable state of affairs.

This week saw the release of Yuvvraaj, after listening to the sound track; we all had high expectations of the film. Katrina Kaif has had the Midas touch up to now. Would it work in a film about warring brothers and a cello all under the direction of Mr Subhash Ghai?

It's been a fun week - we are still revelling over the fantabulous success of Dostana, looking forward to the release of the master showman Subhash Ghai's Yuvvraaj this week and guess what?ÌýWe've got the maestro himself on the show this weekend. He's a visionary - his WhistlingWoodsAcademyÌýhas established itself as one of the leading film schools in Mumbai. And we love his panache - he was at his charming best a few years ago when we hooked up for a party on a yacht at the Cannes Film Festival. Can't wait!

Who would have thought that a total Bollywood entertainer in the true form of the word -Ìý boy(s) met girl, fall in love; trials and tribulations; song and dances;Ìý unrequited love; noble sacrifices; a mother'sÌýsacrificial love; item numbers on the beach with all the body beautiful; a kid yearning for a loving step momÌý (we could go on and on withÌýall the "Mumbai massala" ingredients that make a successful movie)Ìýwould be groundbreaking. What are we talking about?Ìý Well, its last weeks big release, Karan Johar's "Dostana".All the tried and tested plot formulasÌýwhich make a success and whisk you away into movie magicdom is there, but the groundbreaking aspect is that lead characters Abhishek and John pretend to be openly,Ìýand on the face of it, unashamedly gay. A first for Bollywood.

It saddened us to learn that B RÌýChopra, one of the stalwarts of the Indian Film Industry, passed away this week aged 94. For us he was responsible for some of theÌýmost groundbreaking films in India. His first movie "Ek Hi Raasta" is one of our favourites andÌýsees Meena KumariÌýat her emotional best. We had the privilege of speaking to his son, Ravi Chopra earlier this year before the release ofÌý'Bhoothnath' and he was pleasantly surprised that films such asÌý'Gumrah',Ìý'Naya Daur,Ìý'Insaaf Ka Tarazu' andÌý'Nikaah' are still seen as milestones. Listen to our tribute this weekend.

Have you ever waited ages for a bus and then suddenly two come at once? Well, that is exactly how we felt this weekend - two fantastic movies that showcase the best of bollywood but in different directions. "Golmal Returns" is a clever funathon that is both farcical, funny with show stopping performances by Ajay,ÌýKareena,ÌýCelina,ÌýTusshar,ÌýShreyasÌý,ÌýAmrita andÌýArshad excel -Ìýeveryone's comic timing is perfect.Ìý"Fashion" exposes the disturbing underbelly of one of India's emerging industries - the high society world that is fashion withÌýtiaras tears and traumas galore.ÌýWe predict awards for both Priyanka and Kangana.- they are simply electrifying on screen.
